Deinonychus Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Simply gorgeous! I liked the old version just fine, but this new version makes that look like a piece of junk :P It's really a shame with the reimagined X, B, and A-wings we probably won't get a new Y-Wing for a while between the reissue a couple years back and the UCS set, but I guess I can live with what we've got Quote
languages Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Thanks for the review....I will probably end up getting this set now.... Quote
agrotic Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 thanks Yoda ! I wish I had a TRU near my home (I've quit La D Quote

Yuppley Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Has anyone else noticed that those gray pieces look very un-uniform on the engine fins? Or is it just me? Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Has anyone else noticed that those gray pieces look very un-uniform on the engine fins? Or is it just me? I totally concur with you Yuppley ;) I shall modify it by putting white slopes instead of grey !!!!!! Pics tonight as well ;) Quote

xwingyoda Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Once again guys, tks so much for the compliments ;) Sne, Here are two pics for you !!! Yuppley, Here is a pic of the modified A-wing: like you said, those greey brickswere not great looking on the ship so I replaced them with white !! snefroe Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Has anyone else noticed that those gray pieces look very un-uniform on the engine fins? Or is it just me? i don't know why lego has put them there, but i would think, in the real world, those would house a sensor package of some kind... i think the pilot should be sitting deeper in his awing... yoda, can you remove the bricks the fig is sitting on? Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 i think the pilot should be sitting deeper in his awing... yoda, can you remove the bricks the fig is sitting on? Yes Sne you can !!!! Needs mods but you can !!! See the underbelly pic, there is a 12x4 black plate (the part you see next to the side guns), the pilots "sits" on this black part, so get rid of of it and you will gain deepness in the ship ;) Happy mods ;) Quote

Beagle Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Has anyone else noticed that those gray pieces look very un-uniform on the engine fins? Or is it just me? I seem to remember seeing a picture of the "real" (that is, the model from the film) A-Wing and it did have little grey corners on the fins like that. I think that's why TLC put them there... and I actually like them, it brings some interest to the fins. No offense, Yoda, I think they look a little drab in all white. Thanks for the great review! I love this set. Can't wait till it hits the U.S. Oh, and regarding Deinonychus' lament for a re-designed Y-Wing.... I still think they will do this. I have this theory that sometime near the end of next year they will release a re-designed Y-Wing and, though it may sound crazy, a re-designed X-Wing. Here's my thinking: 1. They seem to incorporate UCS innovations into re-designed System Sets (i.e. the newer X-Wing is like a mini version of the UCS X-wing, with many of the same building techniques, and the newer Snowspeeder echoes the UCS version as well). So, since there is now a beautiful UCS Y-Wing (possibly my favorite SW set ever), I wouldn't be surprised if they took some of those ideas and made a new System Set. 2. The re-issue System X-Wing was never really a standalone set... it was sold in conjunction with Yoda's hut, and was originally intended to be covered in vines (yeah, how many of us left those vines on there?). But all the other "starfighter" sets have standalone releases that emphasize their space-faring nature. I think we'll see a new, minorly-modified X-Wing (maybe with a flesh-toned pilot Luke) sometime in the future, and the box with show it flying through space. 3. The X-Wing and Y-Wing are probably the two most popular, recognizable Rebel ships in the SW Universe, and so they could be pretty sure that a market would exist for them. People might not be willing to buy four versions of a B-Wing, but they would gladly buy another version of the beloved X-Wing. Just my $.02. Mind you, this is all totally speculative, I have no info to back any of this up. Just hopeful hypothesizing. :) Quote
gusmoore17 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Lovely, that's the only thing I oughta say *wacko* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Nice review Yoda. Thanks for sharing the images. I esp. like the mechanic fig's helmet for WWII mocs - nice fig and a great ship. Definately better than the 1st edition. Quote
Beagle Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 After my earlier post, I went and found some pics of the A-wing with those little grey corners on the fins... Again, this really is a nice new re-creation of this ship in lego. :) Though looking at these pics, I almost wish they had done something a little different with the cannons on the side. Maybe a two-tone thing using lightsaber blades, or a spear gun piece, or something. Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Tks for the pic Beagle ;) Grey fins will be back on my A-wing and I will add grey inverted slopes on the bottom fins tks to you ;) Quote
Rivets Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Yup, thank you for the review, Mr. Yoda. The re-design is really better than the original one. Out of the winter 2006 sets, I will only buy the Slave I, though. Quote

xwingyoda Posted December 1, 2005 Author Posted December 1, 2005 can you take picturesfrom the box and the instructions ?are there picture from the slave 1, tie interceptor or v-wing ? I'll post pics tomorrow of the box and instructions ;) There are no new pics about the upcoming SW sets, only the pics that are in the Lego mag: I'll post them also tomorrow !!! Quote
Vader Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Hmmm its so hard to look at those pics when you know that you still have a few weeks to wait until you get to own one :'( After looking at legos version and the proper pics from the films i have to say that this is one of the best sets that lego has done, there attention to detail is really good and just proves that sometimes smaller sets are better than the bigger ones.
