Admiral Croissant Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) And your ships?:La Mort Royale, Le Requin, Sang Royale, L'Orient, La Gloire and L'Aigle and a few more. (Not being bias) And the 'Aigle' is still under construction... I think we'd better hurry bluecoats! Maybe we can also search some help with the Spanish like for example at the battle of Trafalgar.. but I think they don''t have a lot of lego ships either...maybe none Edited June 2, 2009 by YnyklY Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) They have one, the Armada Flagship. It's a 567th rate ship with 1 cannon and a magnificient ammount of crew: 3 men. Not enough to aid us in battle I'm afraid... It's useful to feed the cannons of the Redcoat fleet though, to distract them. Edited June 2, 2009 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote
Hound Knight Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 More progress has been made! The officers: Lt. Gecko, Adm. Houndbower, Cpt. Lock Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Awesome update Houndblower! I like the progress on the cabin a lot. There is even an interior already! And...*gasp* is it going to have 2 gundecks? I have to make progress on my ship asap! Seriously, I think this ship will turn out really good, although I think it's a bit too short for a ship with two gundecks. The deck looks really good with the dark brown pieces in it. Why it has no rudder? Your ship is steerless! Although you can steer with the sails as well. Keep it up matey! You're doing great! Quote

Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 She is progressing nicely under your command. On a side note we intercepted several French spies in Brick Royal smuggling copies of plans for Ubiquitous. I had the spies unceremoniously fired out of the batteries of Passage Fort. The copies have been destroyed. Quote

Joey Lock Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 My past British ships are scuttled... The HMS Knight and the HMS Aggressor are destroyed. If we are bringing up past ships, then I have one for the FRENCH list, my Le Soleil Royal a 104 gun ship of the line. Here is her link http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=263132. Ah.. I almost forgot the main point of this topic, the Ship wip. She looks good so far. A few pointers, I would make the cannons at least three studs apart, two studs is just too close together. One more thing is I don't know if I like the fort wall bricks above the gunports. I like the color scheme and the headrails look interesting, Ill be waiting to see the final result. Quick question, What color will the cannon ports be?-Admiral Bejaune Hmm, Looks like we have a good match against the upcoming HMS Unicorn and HMS Euryalus! I like the angles you have made, Makes it look extremely big, until we see the ship next to it. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Thank you! Yes, 2 gundecks, although I'm gonna hafta make the top one open (I'm running out of brown plates!). I think that's a good idea. I'm still not sure about the length of the ship but we will see how this turns out! Are you planning to place gunports to it? I'm wondering in which colour... dark red perhaps? But in other news: HOUNDBLOWER'S BIG SECRET REVEALED: Will the HMS Ubiquitous sail for the Bluecoat Navy after all? Check the second and third picture, what do you see in the upper left corner? That looks quite blue to me, do you have to explain something dear Houndblower? I'd love to have you on our side! Quote
Joey Lock Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Edit CGH: please do not quote entire posts with a lot of pictures just to add 1 sentence, thank you. Man, I didnt realise my beard had overgrown that much! I need to shave! Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 There Blackmoor has got a point! Is it going to be for the bluecoats after all? would be great Anyway, I like your ship, I like the colours very much, and as Cap'n Blackmoor said, maybe you should either make the ship longer, or leave it a one-gundeck ship. Otherwise it might look a bit silly. I also like your stern. I don't see many round sterns like that on this site. It's very original. I wasn't very common for real ships to have them, but some of them had very nice round sterns (especially in the mid-19th century, like clippers and some warships) good work, the bluecoats sure want to have it in their fleet Quote
General Armendariz Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Nice job! im likig the short but tall look. Too bad us Frenchies are running low on gold we cant make much more ships! Quote

I don't know if gunports are necessary, the cannons don't have any wheels... About the flag... Um... Amendariz put that there when he was spying! Yes! Amendariz did that! Quote

I having no previous shipbuilding experience, accidentally ordered two bow pieces instead of a bow and stern. It seems to have worked out alright though. Quote

Hound Knight Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 ^ Here we see Amendariz and CGH trying to sabotage the Redcoat war effort. Someone shoot them please. j/k Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Fantastic. She is comming along very nicely. I stout handy well armed battle ship for the Redcoats! I still am just in awww of your custom figures! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 This looks great! The colours are very nice! The only thing I don't like is the tan mast, are you going to change it to a black one? That looks much better. I also like the decks and the stern is coming along nicely. Keep it up! Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 The second deck has turned out rather well. As I said before, the colours look great, and the stern looks also good, but I think you should make the captain's cabin more 'one' with the ship, it is too square now, you could make the way from poop deck to the waist a bit more organic (I hope you understand what I mean ) The figure head is also a little bit strange because its very horizontal with his face to the water, maybe you can fix that For the rest it looks really good, and I think with some ropes and sails it will be a good sailer/fighter Quote

I plan to fix the cabin after I get the rest of the cannons and can secure the top deck to the hull. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 ...secure the top deck to the hull. Ah, I was already wondering about the gap between the gundeck and the top deck. Quote
Hound Knight Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 Ah, I was already wondering about the gap between the gundeck and the top deck. I didn't attach it 'cuz I still have to put more cannons below. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I didn't attach it 'cuz I still have to put more cannons below. I wish I never reminded you on that. The less cannons on a Redcoat ship, the better. But are you planning to secure the top deck on the gundeck? You won't be able to change things inside. Making a ship modular is a challenge but very handy if you want to transport it, repair it, or upgrade it. At least, I try to make my ships so modular as possible. The Formidable can be taken apart to the hull sections in a few minutes. And now I'm going to sleep... 0:24 here. Quote
