Hobbes Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 ... an oil rig? In dependence on this post and the following - please? It's been done before... ? ? ? ... so why not again? Prettypleasewithsugarontop? *satis* *satis* *satis* Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 And once more an off-topic giving birth to a new thread :D :P Great pic collection there Hobbes !!!! I could only wish TLC has this idea !!!!! But no stupid baseplate !!! A rig based on 3 different levels/parts: a helipad, a housing facility and the actual oil treatment facility !!! Plus there would be 2 other sets: a MF oil tanker and a cargo helicopter to bring food to the workers. This copter can be reused in the airport and the tanker could lead the way to a new marina / port theme !!!!!!!! Quote
snefroe Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 and while you're at it, dear mr. lego, could you please rerelease the old sets as well? Quote
Sting Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Yes... an Oil Rig would be cool... it could come with a bunch of figures... and the rig itself could even have a tiny office(somewhere inside the giant (32x32 baseplate) structure) where the big oil tycoon could be sitting. Lego could use lots of cool parts and things to make the oilrig have neat little functions too... it would be an amazing set! Actually... in addition to this they should have a whole THEME based on the OilRig The Oil Rig: Large Set ($79.99-$99.99) An Oil Ship: Large Set (59.99-79.99) (Kind of like the big red ship that came with the big Seaports of the early 90's town theme) Oil Port: Large set ($69.99) with smaller Oil Tanker and a port with other cool stuff you'd see at an Oil Port... Depot: ($29.99) A small building with Storage tanks built on a roadbaseplate for a small truck that comes with the set. Truck: 14.99 - Oil Tanker truck... Only obviously problem with this theme is it is too cool and obviously too expensive as I can't think of a way of making sets to fit this theme that are small... because almost eveyrthing to do with Oil is so big! These would all be a good source of BLey and cool minifigures! (One of the few things Lego HAS done right lately is the type of minifigs they release - the new torsos alwasy look great - they just need MORE in each set!) Quote
Deinonychus Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Didn't you hear? The congress of Legoland voted not to continue any more oil drilling because of the negative impacts it would have on the Arctic theme and decided expanding oil ports, refineries, and depots would just be further detrimental to the fragile habitiat of the Black LEGO Octopus. Plus everyone knows Big LEGO Oil is run by a secret cabal headed by Ogel, Vladek, and Baron Von Barron Okay, I'll shut up now :D But seriously, a rig or some tankers would be seriously cool sets...especially a super-large rig set...perhaps a shop exclusive in the $150 range. I doubt Lego would be making any oil drilling platforms in the next few years, as (humorously or not) there really ARE environmentally negative images surrounding them in recent news... be it the whole Alaskan drilling issue or the complete devastation of the gas price-raising refineries left in hurricane Katrina's wake. I imagine a highly expensive, super-detailed oil platform set would be a mammoth source of gray greeblies, like the super Star Destroyer and upcoming Death Star are. Quote
Hobbes Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 That would do it for me: (click me) Quote
Christian Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 That would do it for me: (click me) That oilrig is just way to cool. I have actually sen it a few times in real life, when I've been to Legoland Billund ;) Quote

KimT Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Yeah it would be cool to have a new rig. I've already got the old shell rig (last pic in first message) and we definately need a new one. KimT Quote

Thats just what i was thinking jinzoninjen, After the valdeze i dont think well ever see another oil rig or tanker set. Theirs alradey been a massive debate in FL if we should let oil rigs near or shore and i know now during the oil crisis lego wont even touch that idea. Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Do you really believe that Clone comander Nodra 999 and Jinzo ??? Its a weird thinking I think: * who many people die in car accidents every day - we have plenty of cars * 9/11 catastrophy and boom, we have two new planes (...) The world needs oil !!! so let the black fluid help our MFs for energy... Also, as a side note (and being totally off topic btw), our beloved MF have a couple of choices in all the new city themes: burn, get arrested, get shot, try and flee the police in planes, drown (...). What a life !!! :D :P Now all we need is a marina, houses, boats, shops and restorants !!! Quote

What a life !!! :D :P Well over here in the States, the Dino Attack theme has been running loose in the LEGO City theme through the comic in the magazine and on the website, so add getting caught in a military crossfire and attacked by a dinosaur who will either (A)eat you, or (B)shoot you with his laser-eyes, to that list No wonder they came up with a hospital :P Quote
KimT Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Hi KimTI thought that oil-rig was your big brothers???? jealousy is a bad thing! Morten Dear Steve, In your dreams - the oil rig is MINE *twisted* My brother took one of my erh.. his trains, a trainstation, the railroad crossing, all the technic and more than half of my old classic space |-/ But not the oil rig.
