Sandy Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Yay, it didn't explode! I suggest that Max sits with Lorraine in the front (he's still covering from the stabbing), while the rest of us in the back. Mark, you take the knife, and I'd like my gun back, if that's alright with you, Max. This way we can watch all the townies so none of them gets to surprise us.
Dragonator Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Are you saying you want me to sit in the trailer of an potentially unsafe vehicle, in the dark, where I could very easily be locked in by someone outside, and in the company of a madman and a suspected murderous chef!? Are you crazy!?!? Yeah OK, whatever, there's not much else to do. I would just like to say now though, in case it is too late later on, that I have a bad feeling about this. *Jumps into the back* Right, let's get ourselves to this X-marks-the-spot place. I'll shout directions from the back, I don't suppose there's one of those sliding-window things between the cab and the trailer is there?
Captain Zuloo Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I suggest that Max sits with Lorraine in the front (he's still covering from the stabbing), while the rest of us in the back. Mark, you take the knife, and I'd like my gun back, if that's alright with you, Max. Yes, it might be an idea for me to sit in the front to regain life points *cough*note I slept and should have some life points added TheBrickster*cough*. Oh, and here's your gun Elanor. *hands her the gun* Hey, wouldn't it be funny if the X on the map led directly to a train shed with an X on the wall and a trapdoor leading into mystery. Unlikely though.
WesternOutlaw Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Max jumps into the cab with Lorraine, before returning the gun to Eleanor. Lorraine turns on a rather dated radio with an 8-track system. The following song begins playing: Lorraine begins dancing in her seat. The others are in the back of the truck wondering where Lorraine may lead them...
AwesomeStar Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Yeehaw! I just love this song! *Calling into the back* C'mon now, EVERYBODY!
Sandy Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 So, where are you leading us, Lorraine? Do you want to borrow the map?
AwesomeStar Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Yes please, I've only been to the Crossin' once with ma daddy! *Takes map from Eleanor* Now, is it left or right...?
Zepher Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 So, while we're waiting for Lorraine to take us places, can I ask you about your past Hellanor? Any reason you have on that lovely dress? What was it used for? Your husband ran over a wagon, right? No, wait... he was run over by a wagon, right? Or did he drive a wagon that ran over Frodo. In that case this is war. I'll kill him. Oh, he's dead. I'm sorry. May my consilations go out to you and your family, and his family too. I wonder when we'll get to the way out of town. We seem to be going in cirlces so far. Maybe there's a magical border around the town, that places us on the other side when we reach it! Maybe that's why the Mayor had me cast a spell a few years ago but he wouldn't tell me what it was!
Sandy Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 So, while we're waiting for Lorraine to take us places, can I ask you about your past Hellanor? Any reason you have on that lovely dress? What was it used for? Your husband ran over a wagon, right? No, wait... he was run over by a wagon, right? Or did he drive a wagon that ran over Frodo. In that case this is war. I'll kill him. Haven't I explained all this before? This is my wedding dress, and I wear it because it was our wedding day when my poor Eric was brutally run over by the very same horse carriage we were supposed to leave the church in. I know who that drunken lunatic was, and I'm going to make him pay dearly for ruining my happily ever after! ...Oh, don't look so scared! It's none of you guys, he's in one of the other groups.
Zepher Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Sorry Hellen, just trying to get a read on everyone. No chance that you'll tell us who the driver was, I'm guessing. *Aside* I think she's insane! Who wears their wedding dress all the time! Okay Mark. Your turn. I'll start a fire, and you can tell your story next. I want to know all about everyone. Now, if only I could find some marshmellows... I know! I'll grow some. I have a green thumb that allows me to turn metal into Marshmellow plant. I'm sure Lorraine won't mind if I turn some of her truck into a plant that grows full grown and plump marshmellows. *Walks over to side of truck and starts rubing his finger against it* Doesn't seem to be working today... maybe Lorraine got a special kind of metal. Maybe she built her truck out of wood! That would explain it! I think I have some splinters.
WesternOutlaw Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 As Lorraine begins playing with the Rubber Duck hanging from her driver's mirror, Max dozes off and starts dreaming... A few of the others in the back of the truck start snoring loudly as Herman tries to keep them awake with his stories. With map in hand, Lorraine nears a rail road crossing next to a small signalling tower.
Sandy Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 We're there! So it's a railroad crossing that was marked on that map! I wonder where each of these tracks lead to...? We should probably check the surroundings now, before entering the signal tower. Just to see if there's any quirkiness going on...
Dragonator Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Right, out we get, and time to get to work. I'm glad the truck didn't blow up on us. Let's look around for any reason why this crossing might have been marked on the map. I have a feeling we'll find something in the signal tower, so I'm going to go in there. Knowing my luck, there'll be another poster with another map behind it, or something of the like. So, I'll walk over to the signal tower, carefully push the door open and wait for any falling debris to settle before going inside. I'll also make sure to look for any bear-traps and trip wires as well before entering. You never can play it too careful. Although in my D&D strategy I quite often incorporate some risky moves as well, and luck is quite often on my side there. You have to take risks to move forward. OK, so I'll just shut up about risks and being careful and I'll go look in the tower...
WesternOutlaw Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 Lorraine stops her rig outside the rail road crossing. The fuel meter is close to "E" for empty. Eleanor finds herself walking along the rails for a bit as she looks in both directions. Aside from a long path of track leading away from the crossing, there's not much to see. The road that you took crosses the track and also leads toward the mountains. Mark decides he's ready to see the inside of the switch tower. A large glass door is unlocked and he opens it carefully looking for trip wires and other booby traps. He enters asking if anyone else would like to come with him. Max receives +1 Life Points for resting in the cab.
Sandy Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Mark decides he's ready to see the inside of the switch tower. A large glass door is unlocked and he opens it carefully looking for trip wires and other booby traps. He enters asking if anyone else would like to come with him. Oh, I'll come. There's obviously nothing to see out here, so whatever that X means should be revealed inside. But let's all be extra, extra careful. And someone keep an eye on George!
AwesomeStar Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Crumbs, the gas is empty! Damnable... we need to find us some gas! I'll go check those barriers. And I'm with Eleanor on someone keepin' an eye on Georgey...
Zepher Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I'll go first. That's what I'm best at! You see, I know that Killin' Geroge is trying to kill us, and if I put a lot of room between me and him, that would be good. On top of that, I glow in the dark, so I'll be very good at leading the way incase you all get lost. You can just follow me! *Howard walks to the front of the group*
Captain Zuloo Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I'll follow into the signal tower. Are we actually at the X, or are we at the crossing?
Dragonator Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Cool, so I'm in the tower, and I haven't been killed yet... what am I seeing?
Zepher Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 With your eye-sgiht, probaly nothing. Did you ever get around to reading those train passenger lists
WesternOutlaw Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 You enter an old switching/signaling tower with technology that appears to be from the 70s - transistors, tubes, wires, and various manual switches. Wires lead upstairs through a very small hole in the ceiling. A small staircase also leads to the second floor. The room is well lit from the glass doorway and side window.
Dragonator Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Right, whatever you do people, don't touch any of those electric switches with your bare hands. We don't want to get hurt by electric shocks. I would like to carefully look through all the equipment downstairs, making sure I don't touch any exposed wires or stand under anything that could fall on me. I'll keep an eye out for anything unusual that might have been the reason this spot was marked on the map. Why don't one of you go upstairs and take a look around there, to help save time? I hope Herman's OK. I just got a bad feeling... Am I having Deja Vu or what?
Zepher Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 It's a good thing I'm made out of rubber. I'll take the top floor, as long as Killin' George doesn't follow me!
WesternOutlaw Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 as long as Killin' Georgedoesn't follow me! (sometimes these antics are so funny)
Sandy Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Fine, I'll go upstairs, with my gun loaded and ready. No Boogieman can surprise me now!
