Rocketbilly Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Great review! I'll hopefully be getting this set soon, along with Gold Heist. However, I have one question, and if anyone who owns this set could answer it for me I'd be most grateful: Is the Alien's head the bright orange (Like the ones used in most of the Agents villains torsos) or a darker shade? Sorry if this has been asked before. I hope it's a darker shade, as I think the bright orange could be too much, but I'll have to wait until I see the fig in person to judge for myself. He's still my favourite of the aliens. Thanks, Will/Rocketbilly Quote
Cavannus Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I hesitated before buying this set, it didn't look that good, but I finally got it since my girlfriend felt in love with Kranxx! Then.. wow! I felt in love too with the whole set! The black bike looks really powerful and pleasant to drive, I imagine something like a "flying Harley" making bass & smooth noise and a lot of suit. The police scooter looks powerful as well but with a clean propulsion engine and a "zzzzzz" electric sound and with high handling (like in the "Wonderful Days" movie -- look at this video at 1:20). Actually I don't like unrealistic space series such as Mars Mission, Life on Mars, etc. -- but I do love Space Police III which is a creative mix of Mad Max 2 and the 5th Element. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 (edited) a creative mix of Mad Max 2 and the 5th Element. Do you say that every where?!! as for the set I have it, and I love it! Kranx is ausome, and I came up with that sex-change thing first (but, seperately)! Edited July 10, 2009 by dannylonglegs Quote
Cavannus Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 (edited) I was about to vote "Below average", then I looked at the pics and chose to vote "Poor".There is nearly nothing I like in this set (or theme). [Off-topic] Should one vote without having bought and built the set? Just a question -- I'm not judging anyone! By the past I voted for sets after having reviews or catalogs, but when I realized that some (many?) sets look great in picture but are poor in reality, or reverse, I stopped voted for the sets I don't own. For example, the City Corner looks detailed and big enough, but it consists of a couple of wall metapieces on a small baseplate -- while this Freeze Ray Frenzy looks poor when looking at the box or some photos, but I'm happy to have it because both scooters are well designed and seem powerful. Do you say that every where?!! LOL Maybe twice? Even three times?... More? Sometimes I begin replying then I cancel, but other times I post the reply, so it happens that I don't know if I replied or not and I post the same idea several times. Do Eurobrickers read all the posts? :) Edited July 10, 2009 by Cavannus Quote
UsernameMDM Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Pretty cool little set. I like both of the vehicles and the traffic accessories are a nice touch. Quote

(sometimes)(mostly only in the space forum) I'v never seen mad max, but I just saw death race, and the twins vehicle looks stolen... srry for being off topic Quote

Sorry for replying to this so late, but here is my answer: It's almost the same color, but it seems to be slightly less flashy than that of the Inferno torsos. And yes, the vehicles with the skull twin color scheme remind me of Death Race too. :skull: Quote
Cavannus Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I'v never seen mad max, but I just saw death race, and the twins vehicle looks stolen... srry for being off topic It's not off-topic since Mad Max 2 is a key step in apocalyptic movie history and inspired many others. I guess SPIII's designers are about 30-35 years old, so they saw this movie and maybe have been influenced by it. BTW and off-topic, Mad Max 2 is an excellent movie: action scenes are awesome but all the context, the ambiance, etc. make the movie great. Death Race is only an action movie, but it may have been an inspiration for SPIII as well especially considering that both SPIII and Death Race vehicles are designed for attack. I didn't think about stolen vehicles, but I like this idea! Quote

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me. Funnily enough, I ordered this set along with Gold Heist a few days ago, should be coming in the next couple of days! I wish TLC produced orange minifig hands.....as far as I know they haven't. Will/Rocketbilly Quote
nadnerb112 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Nice review! I had glue drops on mine too. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Mine arrived yesterday, and I checked for glue drops on my loose engine piece - I didn't get any glue drops. I feel kind of left out now However, when I came to building my second set, Gold Heist, there were glue drops on the DSS. I wonder if this is just a problem with the Space Police line, I've no heard anything about it from other themes. Will/Rocketbilly Quote
