Mirandir Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I haven't seen this posted anywhere but I just found some info that claims that there is a collaboration between Lego itself and the online specs retailer Lynx Optique to make a pair of LEGO sunglasses. Haven't found the source though as it seems to be just blogs linking to other blogs... It's pretty much just some 80:ies style sunglasses with studs on the sides... Quote
Dadster Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Well - the future is gonna be bright! These would be great to get for Conventions. Quote
Dr. Brick Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 First MP3 players and now this... TLC is overdoing it again, remember what happened last time? Dr. Brick Quote
mikey Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 (edited) First MP3 players and now this... TLC is overdoing it again, remember what happened last time? Dr. Brick I agree with this, I think Lego should stick(!), to what they know and do best. I hope they are not wasting resources on unprofitable ventures, and to be honest these look terrible. Saying that it wouldn't surprise me if these are a forgery, they look terrible, and the whole idea seems a bit far fetched. Edited May 14, 2009 by mikey Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I would so like a pair of those, and make them look cool! Quote
Christian Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I would so like a pair of those, and make them look cool! I bet you would put pirate figs along the side of it Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I bet you would put pirate figs along the side of it No no no, cannons ofcourse! Quote
Tom Bricks Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 No no no, cannons ofcourse! Im surprised they don't have flick fire missiles already. Quote
Oky Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Wow. That must be TLG's worst idea yet. I mean, come on! Who except a really young child would want to run around with sunglasses that have bricks attached to them? I doubt that any parent would want to buy their kid one of these because they will eventually fall apart and just end up upsetting the kid. No no no, cannons ofcourse! Im surprised they don't have flick fire missiles already. Haha! Great idea! This way you could fire at anyone you look at! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I would maybe get these if they didn't look so feminine. I hate those huge white lenses! The bricks on the side would open up some cool possibilities though. But I frankly think LEGO shouldn't branch so far from the base of bricks. Quote
Millacol88 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I'm afraid anyone over the age of seven would get beat up for wearing those. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I was looking if i could buy them somwhere, but i couldn't find a place. Maybe you guys have a link to an online shop? These frikkin rock! Quote
Squeaker Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Cheap plastic sunglasses like these are actually popular at clubs and et cetera... The studs aren't so noticable, but the lens color is nasty! I could imagine putting some simple 2x2 printed tiles on the sides. It wouldn't be that hiddeous. Quote

Well Lynx Optique is a french oline store selling glasses. So I'm guessing they're going to be sold there. But they don't seem to be available yet. First MP3 players and now this... TLC is overdoing it again, remember what happened last time? Dr. Brick I don't think LEGO burns much resources on the products that have been revealed recently. I think that they're more or less just lending them their name and maybe a few opinions on the product's look and quality. Quote

I love that they are white... all my sunnies are only ever white. I'd get a pair! But i definitely WOULDN'T stick and bricks or figs on them whilst i was wearing them. I am over seven and shall prove that I can pull it off. Hehe. Just you wait.I like them and they shall be mine, (although... i might get the lenses tinted black.) Quote
daxflame680 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 TLC should stick to making... er.. LEGO. This is getting pretty ridiculous. Those electronics, a trillion video games, now this. Quote

I do like the video games but the electronics and now this seem a little much. I would like to see someone use these in a MOC though. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Too all the naysayers: This isn't like a few years ago. Lego are not devoting time and money from the bricks to these projects. They are liscencing out their name and brand (i.e. the people making these cameras/mp3 players/sunglasses/videogames are paying Lego to let them use Lego and that oh so familiar stud pattern) just like they pay Lucas-something for Star Wars' name, characters and designs (that's why they are so expensive). So no worries, Lego could make money from these ventures without any risks themselves. Plus, those are so wonderfully tacky! I need a pair for myself and will totaly but alligators and such on (it may be murder for my hair, but I do not care!) Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 It seems like I'mnot the only one, butI'm kinda getting tired of TLG going out into this sort of territory. I understand that they aren't doing it themselves as much as selling the brand name to other companies, but I find that it takes away from the 'LEGO Brick manufacturer' look. I dunno, I probably sound like a wierdo, but I don't like it. The clothes and watches are one thing, but phones, mp3 players, USB sticks, cameras and sunglasses are another... Not to say that I won't be getting myself a pair of these. Quote
