Dr. Steve Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I recently bought this pirate torso and decided to make into a blue coat soldier. He could use some reddish brown hands to complete the look. Do you think this will work as a soldier? Quote
Admiral M Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) I think so, but he needs white pants. Other than that, it works pretty well. And don't be giving our enemies ideas! Edited May 13, 2009 by Admiral M Quote
Joey Lock Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I like this cause it shows how cheap Blue Coats are. Look at that shirt! You can tell his been bayoneted before! Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) I've seen it done before and I also think it looks better with the white pants. I don't think it looks all that soldierly with the big brown buckle across the chest but it isn't too bad. I've got to also agree with Joey in that he looks like he was just beaten down by either the redcoats, pirates or islanders (possibly all three at the same time - as is often the case with the bluecoats ). I prefer this torso for its original use as a pirate or possibly a merchant salior/officer. But what do I know, I'm just a Bloody Bureaucrat or so I have been told. Etzel Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Yes, it works great as a soldier IMO. I've used it in my swedish carolean army here: Regarding the rip in his shirt, I find that just more realistic Being a soldier isn't an easy way of living. I would really like if TLG made some dirty and tattered uniforms in the future. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I think they look good, if you can get enough of these torso's, I think you should really try to build an army with them. Bluecoat soldiers are always welcome Quote
Dr. Steve Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 I like the idea of the white legs....It is not an ideal blue coat, but it will do for me for now until we get new ones (I hope we get new ones) Thanks for your input. martinsuper Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Ok, Two things: 1. Don't bow to peer pressure and the "white pants" crowd. They love white pants so much they wear them themselves. 2. I like it, don't listen to the lousy redcoats and their rabble. Of course this cut has a little bayonet cut, thats what combat soldiers do! I think it looks great and I wouldnt change it. I am going to have a squad myself. Quote
rriggs Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think this is a great torso to use for a bluecoat. The buckle and torn shirt add to the realism. Just look at something like Sharpe to see that the foot soldiers don't always look perfect! Looks good to me. Not so sure about the gold epaulettes though? Cheers Rog Quote

Cheers Rog I am not a huge fan of the gold for a regular soldier....there is some gold on the torso and the other colors did not look good against it. The brown epaulette did not look good against the reddish brown I put on the fig When I get some more torsos I will try some different looks on each one to compare. Also, I am excited to try the new black epaulette Quote
martinsuper Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I think the "new gold" epaulettes look great! If you want an officer, just give him the old yellow ones, it will stand out enough to make a difference. Maybe use a new govenor torso as your officer? Quote
