martinsuper Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I don't know if Im in the right spot or if this will be moved. But here is my army for the BLUE COAT cause! First is an overview of everything. Officers, with some sailors behind them Guys on the left are my harbor police. Guys are the right are my all-time favorite BLACK COATS! Blue Coat Marines Better Angle I hope you like it! I will take better pictures when I have some time to actually set up lighting and put together a background for it. I also plan on expanding my "Calvary" from the two guys to ten. I based them on the Croatian Alcari jousters who continue the tradition today of the Croatian Medium Calvary that fought the Turkish invasion. Enjoy! BLUE COATS FOR THE WIN! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I totally agree! It seems to be the parrots are popular by the Bluecoat forces, my sigfig has a parrot too! You got a nice army, feared by the Redcoats! Quote
Bartram Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Good work on the collection. Nice army of black coats too. ;) Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 We were just in need for some new bluecoats army, this is one you shouldn't get into trouble with Nice army, especially the marines. And the commanders look great too (but I think they also need a sword ) Quote

And the commanders look great too (but I think they also need a sword ) Oh! I didn't even see that I didn't give them one! I'll fix that. I am now working on expanding my black coats and calvary. I liked how those combinations turned out. As I get more sidepacks, I will make more sailors into "marines". This group does not include my ship's crews. So I still have more blue coats on my Caribbean Clippers and other ships. -Super Quote

So you have quite a lot of ships? maybe you can show us your entire fleet too some time And good you added some swords, the officers should be the last ones we want to die Quote

But I will in time. -Super Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 More meat for the Redcoat grinder! Great job with the army. You can really tell you spent a lot of time picking out the right heads and accessories. The Blackcoats look great. I can't wait to see them in action. I've notified my commanders to be on high alert for a morivated well trained enemy force that is on the move! Quote
Hound Knight Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 This is definitely inappropriate for Redcoats! You certainly have a force to be reckoned with Martin! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 And I wouldn't use the dark-blue officer either. I feel that guy definitely belongs in the navy. British navy, and not because of a bias towards redcoats, He just looks more like a british admiral type of guy to me. No, no, no, he is blue, use your own dang red figures!! Quote
General Armendariz Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 6274 Caribbean Clipper 6271 Imperial Flagship Thats all I have Nice army Bluecoats for the win! Quote
martinsuper Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Nice army you've got there Martin! The blackcoats are rather cool! I just think I wouldn't use them as a division in an army (at least I think that's what you're using them for here), but rather as some kind of royal or imperial guard, wearing tricorns instead of shakos. And I wouldn't use the dark-blue officer either. I feel that guy definitely belongs in the navy. British navy, and not because of a bias towards redcoats, He just looks more like a british admiral type of guy to me. 1. The blackcoats. I won't be using them as an army division. I just put them there for the picture. My actual army will be marines and regular soldiers. Hopefully more marines than anything because I like the sidepack look on the tricorne blue coats. It looks more American to me, 2. I like the shakos on them, it ties all the black and red together. I think when I use them in an MOC it will bring out a nice small detail. Besides, all my blackcoats get their shakos from killing red coats. It's their badge of honor! 3. As for the dark-blue, I am going to use one as a calvary officer, and the other other to command a squad made up of soliders using the new torso from the pirate building set. I've seen a lot of people do that and I like it. Besides, he's blue! In the set he comes with red epaulettes... THAT MAKES HIM A BLUE COAT!!! 4. So, my expansion plan is to get 13 more sidepacks, expand the blackcoats to at least 10 soldiers not counting their officers. Expand my Calvary to at least ten not counting their officers. My black coat "police" will only be added to as I randomly obtain old pirate captain torsos. 5. Oh yeah, and I always need more harbor sentries.... They were not in this picture either! -Super Quote
Dr. Steve Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Looking Good! Thanks to you I am working on my own "Black Coat" Army. Quote
martinsuper Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Nice army Bluecoats for the win! Totally for the win. Quote
Dr. Steve Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I just ordered a few black U clips from brickarms, I think they will make great bayonet holders and might look good with your black rifles for your army if you are interested in that look. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Are you going to put a sabre or a knife on it? Why no U-clips in light grey or metallic colours? I think they are more realistic then black ones. Quote

I bought a few in each color. I think on the black rifle a black clip might look better ( I won't know until I try it though) On the reddish brown rifle I think the metallic silver clip will look good. Especially since I plan on using the Lego Chrome Knife as the bayonet. If I use a saber the gunmetal or dark gray might work as well. I can't wait to get them and experiment with them Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Please show the results of your experiment, I'd like to buy them too but I also want to know what to buy and in which colour. I think gunmetal is the perfect colour for a bayonet. I'm looking forward to it! Edited May 13, 2009 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote

I am really excited about these clips Edited May 13, 2009 by Dr.Steve Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 A kind of review would be awesome, I am also very pleased there are finally U clips. They aren't only handy for bayonets but also for much, much more. I defenitely need a few in the future. A few knifes too, since sabres are a bit too long for bayonets. Quote

martinsuper Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Wow, my thread got hi-jacked by u-clips! Until the port is done, no ship MOCs, this probably means at least a year or two... sorry! I prefer to use the new gold pirate hook for bayonet assemblies. To me its better looking, and every time I get a torso for a blackcoat, I also get his bayonet holder. -Super Quote
