kinjai Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Just curious, because I just did mine. It was a completed modified double-decker version from the 4755 Harry Potter Knight Bus in my grasp, proudly showing it to my son, and next thing I knew, the pieces lay scattered all over the floor. My wife thought it was simply smashing. Oh well. It's a small project, so there won't be much of a problem to fix it up. Has anyone here dropped anything significant to their Lego-ing passion, and share their post-traumatic experiences? Edited May 11, 2009 by kinjai Quote
Commander Tac Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Several Black Fantasy creations down the back of the table (so many spider!) an extremly fragile greebled speeder, RGS and a star destroyer. I've dropped loads more but these are just the most mermorable! Quote
DarthSion Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Yes but no, it wasn't a moc, it was the Republic Attack Gunship, and it more started to break apart then fell on the floor, such a fragile set that one is. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Yes. When I was younger I made a rather big castle across two baseplates. I kept it on top of my wardrobe as it was a little higher than my brother could reach. Needless to say, he either wanted to play with it, show it off or get a better look at it, any way the baseplates split at the joint tipping the castle to the floor. I came home to a pile of bricks and two baseplates. Another time I had made a jungle village, lots of fiddly trees and tree houses, leaf steps and a little stream running through. I was very pleased with it and had only just finished it. It was on a desk in front of my window. Now, it was summer so I had my window as open as it would go (it was a standard sort of window, all pane and a section at the top that opens outwards) my window is above the back garden... Well, my Dad was in the garden and had my giant tennis ball (I had lent it to a sibling to play with) so he decided to chuck it through my window... It came through first shot and bounced all over the window sill and straight through my MOC before I had a clue what was going on. I wasn't that old, so I was inconsoleable. He said sorry but I was really upset for days. Nothing else has broken so catastrophicly, apart from a MOC falling over, but I wanted to take it apart anyway. edited for spelling Edited May 11, 2009 by Peppermint_M Quote
mania3 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 All the time. More than I care to recall actually. Even official LEGO sets. It's frustrating either way. I built the Factory Market Street set and dropped it moments later. Infuriating. Quote
Mariann Asanuma Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Last year I built Jing Jing, one of the Beijing Olympic Mascots. The model took me a few days to build, but the morning after I finished it, I found it like this: Luckily it wasn't quite as bad as it looked and I was able to reassemble it in less than an hour. Quote
SlyOwl Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I dropped this one (luckily after I'd photographed it) - And spilt coffee all over this one, requiring a major rebuild and clean - Quote
Guss Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I just keep dropping my creations, I'm a very clumsy person (Clumsy is the word ? ) , the ship I'm working on fell 3 times, my CCC entry fell 2 times. I'm used to "rebuild" things Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I can't say I ever spilt coffee on a MOC, but when I was making my 10194 Emerald Night review, I accidentally knocked the track sending all three parts of the set flying off my deck railing and into the plants...it just had to be a green train in a green garden didn't it. Also, when I got 6098 King Leo's Castle, Christmas 2000, I walked out after spending hours building it to show off to my family, when I tripped over the open fridge door... Now that one did hurt. Quote
brickfreak99 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 ^Yeah, when I was reading your 10194 review, I was thinking how dangerous the position was Quote
Raphy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Tons of times, but it's really no big deal. Just reassemble it. Maybe that's because I usually make small and tough creations . . . . Quote
Darth Legolas Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Funny, I was just talking to some people about how I dropped three things down the stairs once. First, we all know I dropped that huge Castle that no one liked. (Actually, none of you know what I'm talking about. ) Then, I made a Punk Rock Concert MOC and giant Agents Garage, which I dropped down the stairs both at thre same time and broke my toe. When I look back at it, it's kind of funny. Quote
Natman8000 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I once made my own RGS, I worked on it for days. I was carrying it by the stairs (with two hands!) and it rolled to its doom. Parts were everywhere and I never got rebuilt. I get sad thinking of it. Quote
CP5670 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 We were just talking about this last week in this thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...15&start=15 I'm not sure how far he's come in fixing it. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Ouch, it sucks when it happens. I dropped my Xebec one time, took me 30 minutes to rebuild. Can't remember any other crashes luckily. Quote
Eskallon Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Well I always drop my creations. I once tried movig a huge castle without putting it in parts and it slipped. I also tend to drop others. I have a thing of dropping boxes of figures or weapons as just yesterday I got the boxes out and bang on the floor then I can't be bothered to move the box after I clear it up and it gets tipped over again. The worst that has ever happened might have been my whole collection. A while back I had a load of big boxes full of lego and I had them all on the bed and then bang. Quote
-JD- Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I dropped my AT-TE, right next to the stairs. It rolled down a few steps and then fell off the side (1.5metre drop)! Yes. It was infuriating. All because I caught my foot on the edge of the top step. I heard that a kid got his dad's UCS Death Star and kicked it, thinking it was a ball. Greetings, JD Quote
MarcusV3 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I can't say I've ever dropped any of my creations from what I remember. I'm sure I've dropped 1 or 2 but nothing so horrific that it would live in infamy in the back of my head Quote

You're way less a control freak than I am with lego Quote
Ricecracker Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Many, many times. I haven't dropped any recently, and I hope not to My wife thought it was simply smashing. Oh well. Quote
Sir Norman Ray Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Not really. The worst damage I do is stepping on them. And it was my MechBrick Chruchill tank. Which comes apart in a light wind... Seriously, I spend half my time putting that beast back together... -Sir Norman Ray. Quote
brickzone Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 One of my last creations before my dark ages was knocked off a shelf by one of my younger siblings. It was a fairly nice Ice Planet kind of tank/spaceship thingy (that I had rebuilt and modified several times over the preceding few years). I kept the parts of it for years intending to fix it, but never did. My brothers still have a number of their contemporary space creations (I used to from time to time build a space base for them all to live in - the last one of those also met with an accident and lay in ruins for a few months until cleared away). I have had a recent accident, but it was only a set (can't remember which one). I was moving it between rooms and someone walked into me in the hallway. Fortunately no pieces lost. However, I think I may have been rebuilding it for the third time in quick succession after that (it was an ebay buy - built once to check parts, then washed the pieces, then rebuild, then rebuild again after the drop). So I was still a bit annoyed! In fact it probably happened immediately after the second rebuild and I was on my way to find somewhere to display it. Quote
Dadster Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Not a MOC or any specific build, but my container of extra jewels, gold coins, and crystals went flying one day. I still find the odd jewel or coin every now and then... Quote
Peppermint_M Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) Today I knocked one of my cosmic cycles off a shelf. It shattered and therefore is impossible to repair. Ho hum, it happens when the entire MOC is supported on one centralised point. Edited May 12, 2009 by Peppermint_M Quote
Ricecracker Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Forgot to mention that a few weeks ago I dropped my drawer of heads, which were not stacked, then knocked my drawer of minifig hands on the floor... Quote
