Sir Wellington Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) I recently Watched the documentary The French Revolution from the History Channel. My Thoughts: It was amazing! The filming was great and the portrayal of each character in the short film sequences was great. I loved the sets and the documentary was amazing. It taught me a lot. Has anyone else seen this great documentary? Edited May 9, 2009 by Sir Wellington Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 No didn't see it but as a teenager I had to learned about this revolution... it's basic material in most European schools I think. With the know motto "Liberté, Egalité and Fraternité". This motto actually finds its origins in a May 1791 proposition by the Club des Cordeliers, following a speech on the Army by the marquis de Guichardin. Although this motto was only one slogan among many others. You also have "la Nation, la Loi, le Roi" (The Nation, The Law, The King), or "Union, Force, Vertu" (Union, Strength, Virtue), a slogan used by masonic lodges, or "Force, Egalité, Justice" (Strength, Equality, Justice), "Liberté, Sûreté, Propriété" (Liberty, Security, Property), or Amitié, Charité, Union (Friendship, Charity, Union)... ect Quote
