Joey Lock Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Looks amazing! It will look perfect with Forest Green and mabye a tiny net on it! Thanks Woody! Quote
Darth Legolas Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) God, what can I do? I want to make a big army of WW soldiers (I want to make big armies of everything...so far I've succeeded ) but I only have six with those Military caps from Indy Jones. Brodie helmets would do good... Well, considering I'm drop dead broke until I get my drop ship, I guess that I'll just deal with my little dudes. P.S. Please don't take my parentheses in... the wrong way. Edited May 9, 2009 by Darth Legolas Quote
The Who Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) It will look perfect with Forest Green and mabye a tiny net on it! That would be more than perfect, and I would absolutely love to see somebody pull off making a good net for helmets. P.S. Please don't take my parentheses in... the wrong way. By 'the wrong way,' do you mean by thinking you're like a modern Adolf Hitler or something? EDIT: Woody64, really looking forward to the finishing of that gasmask also. Captain Green Hair Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Looks amazing Woody! I don't really like the flat paint though, it doesn't seem very Lego-ish to me. Quote
woody64 Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 I don't really like the flat paint though, it doesn't seem very Lego-ish to me. The painting is the crucial point. Maybe somebody comes up with a good idea ... Here's the new German/French Helmet in a scene .... Woody64 Quote
tedbeard Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That would be more than perfect, and I would absolutely love to see somebody pull off making a good net for helmets. I wonder if you could not simply include the "net" as part of the process. Obviously it would mostly just be a texture on the helmet but it might look really cool. Quote

Here are the helmet's painted in sand colour Woody64 Edited May 17, 2009 by woody64 Quote
tedbeard Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 You mean the M1 pot? Uhm, no this thread is for the Brodie helmet right? Anyway the Canadian version of the Brodie helmet was almost never seen without the cammo netting during the war so if it was molded right in it would look more accurate. Quote
woody64 Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Here's a more professional photo of the brodie helmet: There's also a new material available at shapeways: Aluminide. That's white&flexible with aluminium dusk inside. that may be an interesting option for my helmets. The result should be a little bit smoother and some kind of metallic look. Let's see. Woody64 Quote
woody64 Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) With the last order I also received a lot of Brodies in Transparent detail which should cover the wish of many users for a smoother material: Woody64 Edited August 8, 2010 by woody64 Quote
woody64 Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) In the last days I tried to make the process of material plus coloring as much reproducible as possible. To verify that I've used three different colors to check if the results can be achieved with a broad type of products. The material always was transparent detail resulting in the smoothest surface currently possible. Black: Acryl colors (for brush) from the paper and hobby shop nearby (Marabu) Grey: Spray from the house builder market Silver: Acryl spray color from the paper and hobby shop. That's the result: Woody64 Edited October 2, 2010 by woody64 Quote
