I'd like to present two City vehicles built for a small one-on-one contest.

The objective was to build two vehicles for LEGO City delivery service: the 4-5 wide light van and the 6-7 wide heavy van/truck.

So here're my cars:

11.JPG

One can fit two minifigs in the cabin of the truck

12.JPG

There are lockers on both sides (actually one of the lockers contain a very useful revolver :) and the other holds a skeleton's leg)

13.JPG

These modified 1*2 bricks were supposed to look like the sliding doors.

The sidedoards are easily removed for instant play

14.JPG

15.JPG

The minifigure can stand inside

16.JPG

The VW Caddy-like car is not perfect - so any suggestions are welcome

17.JPG

A nice addition to "Market Street" (though putting croissants, chicken legs and carrots in one box will no attract customers :()

That's all folks

Great vehicles! :sweet: I really like the big one, the design, the doors and the SNOT technique make a wonderful element for every factory or store

By the way, I think I know a EB count!

Veeeery nice, tovarisht (or bratushka, even :P ?)!!! The 6/7-wide cargo truck is absolutely brilliant. As far as the caddy-style one is concerned, if I were you I'd also add a bit of detail in the back. A wider bumper, some rear window or sth... I'm not really sure, but I think it's just a bit too plain - at least for my liking. Still pretty ingenious tho, great job on those vehicles!

P.S.: Congratulations, BlueBard :pir-oh3: I guess I'll be trying to follow in your footsteps now...

Damn! I realise you asked me for my opinion on these a while back and I completely forgot to reply  Sorry. Anyway, it's nice to see you building more vehicles that are an odd number of studs wide. Both of them look nicely built, but I'm not so sure I like the small one. On its own it looks fine, but next to the other one its front looks a bit too narrow. I really do like the bigger vehicle. The transition from six studs wide to the seven studs wide turned out really well. With the sides closed in particular it reminds me of the sort of vehicles breweries use to deliver beer, such as this one:

I realise this could simply be because I wouldn't mind having a beer now

Cheers,

Many thanks for your opinions on these cars.

Everyone is absolutely right - i can't say that the small one is great - so I'll build something different next time (maybe I should give Ralph's galleries thorough examination? :))

Regarding the truck...

It looks like someone can read my mind as an open book... When I was thinking of the model i come across this vehicle:

They use these to deliver 19-liter bottled water to offices. (I think that claer water is much healthier that the inside of the forementioned brewery truck :))

Since the design of the front has alredy been created, I took the idea of using "ribbed" bricks to add texture to the boards of the rear part.

After I've finished the first version, i realised that my son will not be able to play with the truck - it was impossible to take out something you put in.

So i decided to use snot to make the sides detachacble.

i don't think that it tok a lot of work, but it definetetly took a lot of thinking.

I used the "platform" of the truck to build several city vehicles for upcoming LEGO display in Moscow.

Thank you, Ralph for the comment! Your Porshe, MB and Evo X are brilliant.

Thank you, Kobe. It's not so much your mind I read, you managed to capture the look of the vehicle so well that I recognised it for what it was.

Cheers,

Ralph

I really love the SNOT use of the profile grill bricks here. It gives it a really nice texture and a unique look since we're not used to seeing that orientation. It makes it look like a new element. Great construction! These vehicles are extremely good! :sweet:

Great stuff. I'm really digging that truck!

You used some very clever techniques to get the shape just right, without sacrificing load space.

Good job on the van too :)

WOW!

Thanks for sharing bro! I'm digging the truck, but i;m not so sure about the mini van though...

The truck is built almost like the one u were trying to emulate! Very nice! Great door opening mechanism and the colour scheme is just great! The details of the three lights at the rear of the truck is just wonderful! (The Brake light, signal light and reverse light) Not so sure i like the front grill though...

Anyway, very nice effort! Very nice truck! Cheers!
