Admiral Croissant Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Hello! After a large period of struggling with LEGO I finally created something on MLCad, and till now, I'm satisfied with the result. Hopefully you like it as well! I make this ship in real LEGO soon, with more details and such. This build is still a WIP so suggestions are welcome! My first idea was to make it look like the HMS Surprise, but I didn't want to make it exactly the same, let we say it was a large source of inspiration. A view from the back of the ship. Check how the seagulls watch my vessel. Shot from the bow, there are no headrails yet but they will be there once it's finished! The interior of the ship, now an empty space without any cannons... One last shot for those who missed the previous ones... Hope you like it! Tips, suggestions and that kind of things are welcome! Quote
martinsuper Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 She is very lovely. I can't wait to see her in real LEGO and with rigging! BTW, after spending a few hours punching the computer screen, I have a ton of respect for anyone who does these in LEGO CAD. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 BTW, after spending a few hours punching the computer screen, I have a ton of respect for anyone who does these in LEGO CAD. Awsome...I agree completely. That is something I just do not have the patience or skill to do well. Quote
Joey Lock Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Awsome...I agree completely. That is something I just do not have the patience or skill to do well. That is quite strange. This seems harder than LDD, However many say LDD is harder than MCLAD! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 When you started working on this vessel I didn't know this beauty would be the result! Like Martinsuper already said I have tons of respect for those who can work with MLCad, I have tried it myself but I haven't the patience or the time to start on such a project. It's a good way to see which bricks you need before you order them and get building. I just can't wait to see her in real and under full sail. Let's hope progress will go fast! Good luck on her! I think this is a quite stupid question but what is the difference between LDD and MCLAD? I want to know both so I can start building 'digital LEGO' too. I just want to pick the best one. Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I'm just wondering what the difference between LDD and MLCAD is, I have MLCAD myself but I want to try LDD as well. You're not stupid, except the fact you are on the Redcoats side. Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Any news on this promising project dear friend? I'm eager to see this beauty in real. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 yes there is news : I have ordered the hulls, bow and stern and a lot of other bricks. But there are still a lot of things I don't have yet, like the masts, the yellow board and the windows for the stern. I think I will get the hulls and stuff on wednesday so maybe next week there will be an update with how the ship will look like at the time. So in about a week you will here more from this ship Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 You won't know how curious I am to see this ship in real. It's cool you use different building techniques so we can learn from eachother. I think I will come over soon to take a look at the build! Quote
