Zorro Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 hi there... wanted to know if HK has lego for sale, and what's the msrp and how's its decided (eg, more like oz or kiwi prices?). what retailers would carry them? and how often would there be a sale? Hong Kong sells LEGO, since I've been there as a child, but you better google for the other answers. Or search for a member from Hong Kong.
Skipper 24 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) I'm no expert because I don't live there but I do visit frequently to visit family. However LEGO there used to be cheaper then GBP but last time I went the price had risen and turned about being more pricey. Sorry i'm not so sure about AUS$ or NZ$. (Do both countries still use those currencies?) As for retailers I know that the department store Sogo and Toys 'r' us sell it. Edited April 16, 2009 by Skipper 24
tin7_creations Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I'm Canadian, but I go home to Hong Kong every summer. The Lego there... Toysrus have them (but the sets are not as new as you would find in America, I went back into May 2008, and they were still selling the first batch of Exo-Force, so that kinda gives you a general idea of their stock). There are plenty of stores there that don't sell full sets, they are more like Bricklink and sell figs and other pieces separately. These stores are really run-down and small, some are in the edgy areas, so unless you know where to find them, you won't be able to find them. These stores actually sell stuff on Bricklink too, so the prices of the pieces are quite equal. Another thing that I would note, is that the Lego sets in Hong Kong are roughly 10-15% more expensive than in Canada. So just do some currency conversion and you'll find out how much more you'll have to pay. As for sales, seriously, holding sales for products is a store decision, so just keep track of any advertisements, magazines, flyers, anything that would tell you where sales are.
natelite Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 thanks for the replies! seems like there's no official pricing and is about 30-40% (10-15% more than ca, and ca is like 20-25% more than us) more than US msrp? were you comparing SW sets? because if not, i'm probably looking at 100% more than us.... yuck! the only big retailers would be sogo and tru??? any else?

WhiteFang Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 We have some HK members, whom are Alywin, Benny, and etc, whom are members of EB. I am sure they could provide some useful advice on the scene. I used to have a forum link, from MinifigsForum.net, on their compliations of the shops address and contacts, but at the moment, I can't find it. The forum is mainly converse in chinese. By the way, HK LEGO, is much expensive compared to Singapore, with 10 to 20% mark up. Practically, in this part of the region, LEGO is much costly than US and EU region.
