cmg Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) Roger, Are those 1 x 2 white bricks the ones with grille, or really profile bricks? I'd be quite envious if the latter! Edited June 21, 2015 by cmg Quote
ReplicaOfLife Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 They're the ones with grille. Don't think they make the masonry brick in white. Changed my original post to avoid confusion :) Quote
antp Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Nice 2x2 jumper plates, I hope to find these next time I go to a Store. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Troy store sucked. I went there yesterday and almost half of the bins were empty or covered up with ads. The build a model (all 4) couldn't be done as a lot of required parts were gone such as 1x1 round tile with eye or such. I did pick up one large up full of 2x2 trans-clear slope (there were still lots left) and filled in space with 1x1 trans-red tiles. So just one large cup, the smallest LEGO order for me since Troy store opened. Quote
Kristel Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 My first ever PAB cups! I picked these up at during my recent trip to Chicago for Brickworld. This first one is from the Woodfield Mall store: And this one is from the Chicago store: I probably could have gotten so much more in the cups, but I'm just glad that I am finally able to post in this thread! Kristel Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Congrats. Any trouble importing the cups back into the country? No problems at all. I was surprised actually that I wasn't checked at all given there was more LEGO than clothes in my luggage. Quote
peedeejay Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Congrats on your first cups Kristel. You also were quite lucky with the available parts. Nice collection. Reading these stories shows me again how lucky I am having a LEGO store just 20min away in my home town. My wallet however begs to differ. ;) Quote
DraikNova Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) A lot of 1x1 small mixel eyes and slopes in lime green and dark bley. Also some dark tan plates and bricks and some plants. Edited June 27, 2015 by DraikNova Quote
dr_spock Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 No problems at all. I was surprised actually that I wasn't checked at all given there was more LEGO than clothes in my luggage. Excellent. I got questioned about LEGO at the border when returning from Brickworld. At least the LEGO MOCs substantiated my story that I was at a LEGO fan convention in Chicago. Quote
brickbuilder711 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Got what I wanted from the Spring PAM assortment last Saturday. Yellow double cheese, orange tiles, eyes, black 1x1 round plates, yellow 2x2 plates, and yellow 1x1 w. Stud on side. Filler side elements included brown, dark azure, and btpink brick with earth toned plates. Some medium blue 1x2 plates in the mix. As of today, the selection should cutover to the next quarter of models. My prediction is the green animal will be included. EDIT: Think these are the models: http://cache.lego.com/r/stores/-/media/brand%20retail/stores/calendar/april/q3_240x289.png?l.r2=-1501781935 Edited July 1, 2015 by brickbuilder711 Quote
TheRustySnowman Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 First ever trip to a Lego store today (Bluewater, UK) and my first two cups. Went a bit mad on smaller items (they're just so lovely to pick up by the handful) with 170 trains-blue studs, 120 eyes, 100 each of red and pink flowers and much much much more. Combined with a few bigger bricks and plates, plus some wheels I am happy with the collection of pieces. After a few hours sorting and counting it was a total of just over 1700 pieces. Even better (for me, not for Lego) was they forgot to run them through the till... I also picked up two modular buildings and whilst it was slightly less then I felt it should be but I wasn't really paying much attention (distracted by all the Lego) and using some points off my VIP card. Only just checked my receipt and no cups charged on it! Funny as they did remeber to out the reuse labels on! Result! Quote
Breakdown Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Made a bunch of stops recently: Detroit - 3 week's back. Columbus - 1 week ago Toronto (Yorkdale) - past weekend Toronto (Fairview) - past weekend I honestly feel for those in the US. I find that your PAB selection is pretty bad to be very frank.I guess that I'm different from most in the fact that I hate 2 X 4 bricks on the wall. Pick-A-Model is the bane of my existence right now. If it didn't involve literally ruining the lives of kids I would advise going to stores and loading up cups (for filler) with eyes and junk until they run out (if we all do it) so that the Pick-A-Model's are effectively ruined, they are the worst value ever, you can have about 7 pick a models if you just jam the parts in a cup and more other parts. Not so sure what I'm going to do with 100 wrenches, but whatever they're mine now. So much green stuff because of pick a model, they have the alligator thing and the off-road vehicle right now. Quote
HawkLord Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Ha! My local Lego store also had a bin with a bajillion wrenches. I have no idea why Lego would think anyone would ever need that many. Swords maybe, spears possibly, but wrenches... Quote
legoing Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 You guys are going to shun me... I was at NYC lego store about 3 weeks ago, they had Lego Frame for $1.99 and lego playing cards for $1. I bought 3 frames and 1 playing cards. I came home and realized what the heck did I just do? I should have grabbed like 10 of each, if not grab the whole section.. I went there next week, they were all gone! I thought this lego frame was just a normal thing, turns out it was discontinued along with lego playing cards (full deck, regular size).. Quote

The PAB wall was pretty dismal yesterday. Most bins are for PAM, and I have yet to see anyone actually buy one. In fact, no one was really even giving the wall a glance. Most of the non-model parts were 2x4 or 2x6 bricks. The balance of the non-PAM parts was mainly some unsold parts from the previous giraffe model. The models have completely ruined the PAB wall. The new alligator uses a green plate hinge. If those were available in grey, tan, white, or some building color, I would have left with a cup full of it. The build a minifigure section is nothing to write home about either. You have a decent variety of heads and pants, but most of the torsos and headgear were the same. There were hardly any accessories at all. You had to dig to find some. If you are seeking the sad clown's cap, this is your day. It seems like build a minifigure is just a way to get rid of excess minifigure parts as it is hard to build something that does not look completely silly. Quote

I do not recommend filling up your cups with PAM parts just for the sake of ruining their stock. I think it'll just make LEGO set a formal policy that all stores will restrict all PAM parts in PAB cups. Right now, local store management has some discretion. We should just let the PAM sales numbers speak for themselves when they get around to doing a review how well the new program is going. Quote

Swords maybe, spears possibly, but wrenches... You need two of them to make the stupid pick a model, so as common sense would dictate there's a bijillion of them in the bin to accomodate half-a-bijillion sales of the pick a model. Quote
Breakdown Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Maybe this is old news to everyone but me, but they have a 32 X 32 baseplate that has every pieces that they have for PAB attached to it. If what is on the baseplate is NOT on the wall they'll go back and grab the box for you. Quote
antp Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Either this is something very recent, or just something done in one store in particular (a good idea, though, lucky for you, it is easier than trying to guess what they could have and you could want). Quote

Agreed. I've never seen this, though it would save their staff a lot of time not answering the same question over and over. Quote

It's not on display. At the location where I was it was in an empty pick-a-brick drawer right around the Pick-A-Model calm-shells. I've seen this at multiple locations. preroller Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Not letting me upload photos... Went to the wall at Yorkdale in Toronto. Got a full bin of trans clear-Dark blue cheese and 1x1 rounds. Half a cup of brown 1x4 tiles, 1/2 a cup of bled and DJ blew 1x1 round tiles, bunch of lime and reg green 2x4 brick, lots of 2x4 of the same in plate colour. Tan 4x4, green 4x4, and one full cup of flower stems, flowers, and lime green 1x1 Rounds..... Quote
Breakdown Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) oh and 3 horses I was up in Toronto on the weekend and went a little nuts on the horses and fences, I was surprised to count 22 horsies when I got home and separated and sorted my parts. I go a little overboard with . . . . everything. Disappointed in Sherway Gardens, they are just neglected and behind, no pick-a-brick master baseplate, they didn't even have the stupid green off-road pick-a-model thing!
