Lego Otaku Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Ran to Troy store when I was in the area for an errand. Unfortunately I didn;t have the time to write down everything or bring camera to film everything so I couldn't update Wall of bricks. Lots of tan and some nice colors. Don't bother looking for Dark Azure parts, I cleaned the bin :p 1x2 grey tile with dials and '82' pattern: 869 4x6 tan plate: 24 2x6 tan brick: 16 2x3 tan brick: 17 2x2 tan brick: 22 2x6x2 windscreen Tr. black: 2 1x1 black headlight brick: 129 4x6 blue plate: 19 4x4 green plate: 40 1x2 grey plate with 1 finger: 151 1x2 grey plate with 2 fingers: 145 1x2 yellow brick with face pattern: 6 6x8 green plate: 11 2x2 tr. neon yellow round brick: 101 1x2 medium blue plate: 179 1x2 purple plate: 118 2x4 dark azure brick: 120 1x2 dark azure brick: 1 (was mixed in with 2x4 bricks, may have been leftover) 1x8 white brick: 59 1x8 white tile: 57 1x2 white inverted slope: 59 1x2 dark pink slope: 50 1x1 tr. yellow round plate: 230 1x1 tr. orange slope: 550 All in 5 big and 1 small cups. antp Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 1x2 dark azure brick: 1 (was mixed in with 2x4 bricks, may have been leftover) Indeed, these 1x2 were already seen in several stores Quote
perrush Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 antp, what does a small / large cup cost in Wijnegem ? I'm pretty new to lego. But because I like MOC's I'm wondering if it's better to visit the PaB wall once in while then to order from BL ? Quote

But because I like MOC's I'm wondering if it's better to visit the PaB wall once in while then to order from BL ? In Canada the pick a brick wall is roughly less than 50% price of the Pick-A-Brick online just not the selection. Go . . . . . visit the wall, it will have the gears turning in your head. Even just to run thousands of 1 X 1 trans discs through your fingers like sand. (unless you're a germophobe then don't) Quote
perrush Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 as a newbie with a PaB wall close to me -> reading this topic with great interest Quote

perrush Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 It may indeed worth going there for some parts if you need large quantities, if it happens that they have what you need (or if you want to stock for future MOCs) I just looked at http://www.brickbuildr.com/view/pab/side/off/119/ but at the moment nothing special in it. Did some quick calculation and it's probably not cheaper then buying used (in certain cases even new) ones on BL. I'll keep an eye on that wall, but I'll guess the chances of getting dark red or blue in it will be slim. Quote
antp Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I often found dark red 1x2 bricks in Lille, but Wijnegem has a smaller parts selection. Quote
Andy D Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 (edited) Went to Downtown Disney Anaheim last night. They had white door frames, plant stems and palm tree tops. Pretty good, I don't often see door frames and I have never seen palm tree tops and it has been a while since I have seen plant stems. Had some empty space, should have packed more plant stems in but wife was getting bored and tired of the crowds Got a large cup with just those items. Andy D Edited March 8, 2015 by Andy D Quote
KringlesBricks Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Downtown Disney Orlando had a nice selection today. Picked up a large cup and small cup full of these: 1x2 Redish Brown Bricks 8x6 Green Plates 1x1 Round Lime Plates 4x4 Dark Blue Grey Plates Pink Flower tops White Flower tops They had other elements like 1x1 trans clear bricks and the 1x2 trans clear windows I was considering getting; but, I needed landscaping elements more than anything. Did they really have 1 x 1 trans clear bricks - not plates? I would love to get a large full of 1 x 1 trans clear bricks!!! Quote
antp Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 1x2 bricks were often seen, but indeed 1x1 would be new Quote
Sven F Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Seems like PAB walls around the world have pretty much the same assortment of bricks and colors on offer that circulate at any one time. Does anyone know how TLG decides which bricks are given out? My theory was that it's mostly recycling surplus bricks from new sets that were manufactured in large batches, but not used up for any other purpose. I suppose any separate mold and color costs to set up and it wouldn't be worthwhile to manufacture just a couple of thousand pieces of any single brick, and only so many are needed for a set currently sold. The exception here being minifigures, animals and generally attractive parts which would then be intentionally under-manufactured to increase their rarity/appeal and better sell sets they are included in. Did I get this wrong? I also found it peculiar that "make a minifig" tubs in the shop have a lot of parts from previous CMF's never enough to make any complete cmf (probably intentionally). Currently on offer in zagreb: https://scontent-mxp.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/t31.0-8/11043429_936970096355514_7830758121983224324_o.jpg (the picture is too large to embed) Edited March 12, 2015 by Sven F Quote

Each LEGO store can chose from a list of parts for their PAB wall. Not everything is available at all times, so yes, TLG somewhat controls what is within the PAB walls. Quote
Sven F Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I take it those expensive leaf plants you need hundreds of to make a single tree, were never on that list. I also take it this list isn't available for us to see? Quote

soccerkid6 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Visited the nearest LEGO store a few days ago. Lots of neat new parts there. Gatthekid Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Got the new pick-a-model plane at the Nashville store along with some other small sets and a baseplate for my Minecraft Crafting Box set. Although I didn't have time to fill a pick-a-brick cup, I did spend $50 so I could get the Ninjajo Kai Drifter polybag. Quote
MaineBrickFan Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I take it those expensive leaf plants you need hundreds of to make a single tree, were never on that list. I have found bright green leaves on the wall before. Been at least a year... Quote
Vorkosigan Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 You can fill build a fig boxes with all one type of accessory? I will have to think about that next time. What are the rules for this or is it up to the individual store's leniency? Quote

Legopold Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) That explains it, then. They will never make castle fans happy - no gray brick buckets, and only sparingly gray on the PAB wall, and I've never seen 1x2, 1x4, or 2x4 in LBG on the wall. They had 1x2 bricks in LBG today in the Lego store in Berlin, Germany. I happily filled one cup comletely with LBG 1x2. It was the first time I saw those on the wall. Probably these will show up in other stores, too? Edited April 11, 2015 by Legopold Quote
SweetiePie88 Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 varies. Last time i was at a store(a little over 3 years ago), they were fine with mix and a matching. Quote
Speedboat Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Last week, I visited the store in Cologne and they apparently had just filled the wall with a variety of useful bricks in green. I filled a large cup with a handful each of these: Quote
