Reejoc Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I was experimenting with hemispheres and made this: Quote
General Armendariz Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Amazing! I love it! especially that dome! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Welcome Reejoc. I blogged your wonderful creation earlier in the week. I love the style of your church, and it actually gave me a few design ideas for my Grimwell Manor (pictured in my sig fig); particularly, the use of the black slopes in the windows. I was looking for the right piece(s) for the vents of the manor's clock tower. I really like the design of your church, esp. the roof sections and dome. It's a very nice creation and I'm glad you shared it in the Trains & Town forum. Welcome again! Quote
Carbohydrates Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Gorgeous! I love detailed architecture like this. Well done! Quote
barry Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 excellent-o-lego! the proportions and design is first class, i take my lego-hat-us off and bow may that much needed element be always close to hand! lego on! Quote
Dutch Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Wow thats one good moc. I like how you did the dome on the top but can you tell us how you did it please? May the pirate force be with you. Quote
Asuka Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 A very accurate looking work, interesting and smart! Quote
Reejoc Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 Thanks for all the positive comments. I'm looking forward to building more historical town buildings and branching out from classic castle. Wow thats one good moc. I like how you did the dome on the top but can you tell us how you did it please? The dome uses a similar technique to the spheres credited to Bruce Lowell. It uses 1x2 plates with a centre stud to help smooth the shape out and a core made from 1 x 1 bricks with studs on 4 sides. @TheBrickster - the wooden slats in the bell tower windows are actually made from black 2x2 tiles, not slopes. I think this looks better when viewing from below. Quote
Basiliscus Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Beautiful work. The shape is so natural - very realistic and great attention to detail! Quote
Eilif Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Great job on this one. I wish all my "experiments" turned out so well. It's nice to see a church building that doesn't focus so much on the entryway. Having the entrances smaller and on the sides makes the entire structure appear much larger and more impressive. A very nice effect! Quote
Bricks Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Well done This is an really amazing church. I love the design with the different parts: nave, tower... My holiday is always in South/Easter Europe so I know that you permute this perfectly! 'Bricks' Quote
Zorbas Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Excellent creation Reejoc! It really gives me the feeling of an eastern european orthodox church. The dome is as close as it can get to excellence and the small details like the vitro and the effective use of the slopes make this MOC a remarkable one. Well done! Quote
legotrainfan Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) You built an awesome church! The different roofs are well-designed! Great work, really! Edited April 6, 2009 by legotrainfan Quote
Dryw Filtiarn Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Personally I'm more into the gothic style churches, but I must say that you did a pretty good job on this one. Quote
