fallentomato Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Made this for my latest animation. I started with the engine and was originally planning to build a radar array but the next thing I knew I was finding uses for all those Insectoid parts I had lying around (except those weird crystals, still don't know what to do with those ) Here it is in context: Hope you like it! Algernon Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Lots of glowey. Great to see Insectoids getting some love, too. Nice work. Quote
CP5670 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 This is quite original and fits your green theme perfectly. It actually looks more like a radio transmitter of some sort. I can't tell how the second pair of lights works though (the ones in the middle). Or is that just part of the photo? I find the crystals work great as light-up bricks. They fit perfectly on top of the 9V lights, as seen here. Quote

Since I was just doing this lighting for the scene it was sort of cobbled together using SNOT bricks on the backside of the rocket. I'd like to actually build a model with lighting built-in at some point, but I'm not quite there yet. That's a very cool use of the crystal brick. Quote
Asuka Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 A very extraordinary looking rocket ship, very cool and alienesque. A beautiful and bright work indeed! Quote
Zorro Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Wow thats great in the dark! I love it, magnificient creation! I would actually get scared if I saw it into the dark! Quote
Guss Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 really cool green ship ^^ I love it, it lights are cool! Quote
Aliencat Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Woo I'm digging those lights, it looks ominously evil lit up :D That's just great! Quote
Astrote713 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 It really captures the spirit of the Insectoids sets. And its purist too! Quote
Rocketbilly Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 AHH! the Insectoid noisey-light up engine piece. I love that piece. Good usage of it, too. I like the little bulbous parts as well, and your lighting is superb. Your use of the transparent green grille peices on top of the engine piece really gives it that extra depth that I wish i could achieve with mine - alas, I only have one or two of said piece, and using black or grey wouldn't even achieve half of that awesome effect. Well done, I know it can be a difficult piece to work with. Quote
Minimalist Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Spectacular! I don't know much about Insectoid so it's a really good introduction to the theme for me! Quote
