Lasse D Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 When 5150 Lego gave us the review of the new City Harvester, I promised that If someone gave me this set, I would add a proper hay-laying mechanism and share how to build it with all of you. At the recent LEGO World Copenhagen I was pretty much given the set, so here's me holding my end of the deal. A simple MOD that makes the hay-laying mechanism usable The challenge was to make as few changes to the model as possible, while still having a system that works. the wheels are moved ½stud backwards and the mechanism consists of a liftarm being pushed back and forth. Tall bricks are added to the middle so the hay bricks stay put. 2x2 tiles are used as floor. The 2x3 bricks are not ideal for the mechanism. I suggest 2x4 bricks with tiles on top or something similar. It takes some luck to make it run well with 2x3 bricks, but it works. Simple, quick and easy. Just remember to use a different kind of hay Quote
prateek Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 cool concept, but a video might be better. Just one question, was the body hollow already or did you hollow it out? Quote
Asuka Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 A very fine MOD that adds a lot to the fidelity and playability of that otherwise pretty cool set. I really wonder why TLC didn´t incorporate something like that from the start... Quote
BlueBard Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Very accurated MOD, specially because you improved an already existing model and you apparently barely modified it, so Bravo! I agree about the video Quote
Lasse D Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 A video? The harvester moves forward and bricks are dropped... sometimes more than one brick at a time if you use 2x3's. Quote
Teddy Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Dear Lasse D, Cool MOD. Like Asuka said: A very fine MOD that adds a lot to the fidelity and playability of that otherwise pretty cool set. I really wonder why TLC didn´t incorporate something like that from the start... Somehow, wenn I saw the first photos of this set I assumed such a mechanism was in there... Silly me. Should have knwon better after all the creator car sets with no steering.. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
