drdavewatford Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 If any of you clicked that PM link from "pinupka", I would recommend that you do a virus scan or something...you don't know what might have been in that link... No, of course I didn't click the link (I always check the link at that status bar at the bottom of the browser). Anyone know of a good virus scanner for the Mac ? Quote

Shadows Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Is there any point in saying, "I got spammed by that guy too!" after a pile of other people have already said it? How about when the person has been banned since right after it happened? No, there isn't. So cut it out. Seriously, it's silly and it's getting old and it's going to stop here. The proper place to report spam is through the PM system. If you see that the person who spammed you is already banned, save yourself some effort and just delete it, it's over, he's gone. Otherwise, notify us and we'll take care of him. Then he's gone. See how that works? It's almost like no one here has ever experienced spam before on the internet. Since that seems to be the case, I'll give you a quick lesson in internet forum spam: Don't click any links in it. EVER. Don't buy anything from someone you don't know who offers to sell you something that you didn't ask about. Don't reply at all. Report it to us. Delete it. Move on with your life. How's that sound, everyone? Now move along, there's nothing to see here. Quote
Tordenskjold Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 this russian Spammer, is it Pinupka? just got a PM from that person(who is banned now) and it look like a Porn site. who else use XXX first Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted March 13, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted March 13, 2009 I checked in the database and it seems this spammer send several hundreds of these PMs. Very sorry for this inconvenience. The user is banned, so please just delete the PM. Quote
Darth_Dracus Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Spammers are always fun. And by fun, I mean annoying and crude. Quote
General Magma Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Sorry for bumping this thread (oh well, it's not too old at all.) but earlier today I got a PM from someone called "miqnuliks" or something like that with a link..has anyone else gotten this? Oh, and the SAME PERSON! With the SAME SUBJECT! PM'ed me with that on another forum - a forum which has nothing to do with Lego. (game stuff etc..) I was wondering if this has happened to everyone.. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Happened to me as well. But it looks like he's been banned already. Quote
Legoman Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Yeah i got it too... But thankfully, the 'BANNED', and '0 posts' kinda said to me, 'don't open that link' Quote

ILikePi Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Yeah, I also got sent a PM titled "Important", with a link to some 4 letter website that was labeled "Important". Yeah right. Quote
Hinckley Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Add this to your common sense file: Don't click on links in e-mails or PMs from people you don't know. Also, never click on a link that seems to come from your bank or any credit card company or site where you have your financial information. If it seems plausible that they need info from you, either login at their website and check the customer center for information or call the company directly. There are brilliant phishing scams out there that look exactly like Chase Bank, Visa or even eBay. Anyway, like Sinner said, the poll won't make up our mind about this issue but our eye is always on this type of thing and the safety of our members... Quote
Ratshot Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I got a message from a guy named "peterlbarth" he said he needed help reporting a problem. I told him I was glad to help, but he hasn't replied. Has anyone else got a PM from this guy. Quote
Tim Bit Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I've been getting spam with links (probably to pretty daisy sights) Thankfully I look at the status and not open it if it's a banned outlaw or if the message has nothing but a link. Quote
VBBN Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Just got one, but didn't click it. Member is banned and has no posts, that speaks for itself. Quote
The Who Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 There are brilliant phishing scams out there that look exactly like Chase Bank, Visa or even eBay. And some spammer on Brickforge has even been sending out fake Paypal emails, saying they owe like $18.00 or something. Quote

user Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Some scumsack sent me a link to some purverted site a few minutes after he was banned how did he do this? His name was nusgriba has he found a way to hack on to the site? ~Computerbug Quote
Derek Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Well, with your name being "computerbug," you sound like a complete hypocrite. Not really, but I thought I would make the connection. How do you know when he was banned? I've been sent a nasty message by someone before, but by the time I read it, they were already taken care of and had the "BANNED" stamp. Maybe this was the case for you? Quote

I Scream Clone Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Just don't open messages from members you don't know. This has happened from time to time, and they are generally members who have 0 or not many posts. Besides you shouldn't open links if you don't know who they are from. Quote
