Clone comander Nodra 999 Posted January 15, 2006 Author Posted January 15, 2006 I thought this thread was dead a loooooooong time ago? I knew the chances were slim to none that lego would think of doing this but i though they might try to do it as a movie based line because their is a m,ovie comig out in 2007. Just try to imagine a world where we could have lego spartans bustin up the insectiods or the Those awsome U.F.O aliens from years long past. Try and imagine a world with Master Cheif fighting along side a your clone and storm troopers. Just try and imagine a world where u could have a golden elite kill *voldemort* . Thats the world that im trying to create. Quote
Cutty Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Just try to imagine a world where we could have lego spartans bustin up the insectiods or the Those awsome U.F.O aliens from years long past. Yeah, and what a world that would be. Greek hoplites contra generic, retarded alien-cardboard-design-rejects...Woohoo... :( >:( Honestly: the idea of basing a Lego line on a FPS or a movie derived from said shooter is a megablocks idea. And this is politely spoken. If you want models from halo made of Lego (try googling by that word...count the saints you find...it's a shame) try building them yourself. That's what Lego is about. If you want any models just for the purpose of having a model, well get yourself a model kit or some metal miniatures. I bet *some* company has already taken this niche with pleasure... Besides: what image would boxes of halo Lego convey on the none gamer-crowd? Not a very positive one I'd guess...as long as it's not a Nintendo-brand license we're speaking of (Super Mario, Zelda, Kirby). Bute even there are some franchises (Starfox, Metroid, Pok Quote
The Hordesman Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Halo? Worst Idea Ever. While on it, why not Quake, Halflife, Doom, Unreal, Wolfenstein... Those would surely be child-friendly... Not! Sure, Halo is kind of decent (though the motorbike helmet is silly), I think its best we keep ourselves to customs instead, and perhaps demand the colors to build certain stuff. ;) Also I heard that someone used "Legos" as a plural. Heresy! Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I have nothing against Halo, but Halo LEGO *sick* ?!! Honestly, this license doesn't work. LEGO, while certainly not devoid of violent themes (Star Wars, Batman etc...), they are not a company that likes to promote violence. Halo is basically pure violence. Sure its fun, but does it really fit in with LEGO, a toy that promotes creativity rather than wanton destruction. More to the point, do you really think that LEGO would be allowed to pick up a theme that competes directly with the Star Wars licence? I mean, LEGO hasn't had a true space theme since picking up Star Wars in 1999. Assuming that they renew their relationship with Lucas, I don't see this trend changing anytime soon. And honestly, while Halo works as a videogame, it really isn't particularly imaginitive visually. A hero in generic armour riding around on a few vehicles and killing aliens isn't particularly exciting. Ultimately, I question the logic of picking up such a limiting license. And remember, not all Halo fans are LEGO fans. Halo's fanbase is paltry when compared to Star Wars et al. Instead, LEGO should be worried about keeping its major franchises. In short, this line should (and likely will) never happen!! Later. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 How about some sort of video game theme? I'm sure if lego made a Halo set they wouldn't take crap from people. That one set could include a warthog and a ghost bike with Master Chief, A marine, a grunt and an elite. Thats more realistic thinking I'm sure. Quote

I like that idea, most videogames don't allow for more then 1 or 2 good sets. Then again, that would likely cost TLC a lot of licensing money. So I don't think it's too realistic, unfortunately. Darkness Falls Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Oh, yes. Hey, here's a good idea... Lets make a line with a bunch of bloody, violent aliens who are trying to KILL a bunch of bloody, violent humans, throw in a couple tanks, a couple alien spaceships, and a hummer with a mounted machine gun on the back! You'd get fired in a second if you were a lego employee that said that. Quote
kotua Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I'm personally wondering why people think Lego would even CONSIDER doing such stupidity...(No offense...). Lego has wonderful themes right now. Quote

shineyfish Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 will this halo craze ever end? can you imagine halo sets they would be as annoying as harry potter, but instead of having 100,000 harrys you will have 100,000 master chiefs. Take off the helmet and look at the face, oh my its another blank yellow ..... just like a storm trooper! i think most people would agree that if lego was to take on a videogame license the most likely would probably be a nintendo game but why lego would waist money on a video game licence is beyond me! Take off the helmet and look at the face, oh my its another blank yellow ..... just like a storm trooper! Agreed, I have no idea what one could use a 100,000 motorcycle helmets in the same color to, why does a future hero wear a motorcycle helmet anyways? blank heads would be pretty cool though, useful for water decals. But then again, non-customizers would find them useless. Sure, the potter hair got its uses and he can with stickers be turned into alot. A Master Chiefs torso print would be cool, but his helmet useless. Sure, you get some good dark green, but then you have 100,000 useless motorcycle helmets and need to order 100,000 proper helmets to the theme you build in. And still, the chances Lego will make this theme is just as big as the chances to get a Mancubus from Doom in duplo. :P Quote

Echo Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 On top of all the other things against Halo LEGO, there is one that, I think, would completly rule out the possiblity of Halo LEGO. The Flood. Quote
Beagle Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yeah, geez, what's wrong with you guys? ;) Just kidding. Seriously, don't feel bad about discussing the topic, guys. I can't speak for everyone, but in my case I'm not really genuinely annoyed. :) The fact is, I think we ALL have our pet themes that we would LOVE to see interpreted in Lego. It's just that a) not everyone can agree on them and b) they'll likely never happen anyway so it just becomes frustrating and circular to talk about them. Quote
