1) can't speak for others, but i still have no clue what Avatar is all about. Sure, there are websites and stuff, but to my knoledge it's not on tv, nor is it part of my world

2) i'm afraid this is yet another Minifig based theme, meaning, like the batman theme, most attention will go to the minifigs, not the buildings, boats or any other object. but at least the batmobile and the other things associated with batman are part of the collective memory. Avatar isn't. Why do you think is the sw line so successful?

3) we still haven't seen any lego set of this theme so it's rather difficult to talk about it.

All 20 episodes of the show to date can be easily obtained online from file sharing sites (Limewire etc).

it really is a surprisingly good show.

thanks, just checked it out...

sure it's nice, but why do i have the feeling that i've seen it all before? i don't think it's exceptional or special. i even find the animation rather primitive. i've seen much better in that regard, also for kids...

i still don't see what lego has got to do with this...

No that EB would encourage the illegal downloading of files. :-D

I've seen the first 4 eps and like them, just gotta find the time to watch the rest.

But what I've seen, I've really liked.

Agreed - it's no Samurai X or Evangelion (not that those shows had great animation, but they did have great story).

But it's better than just about anything else out there right now for kids' animation. And seems to be very popular.

I think TLC wanted some sort of a tie-in that the 7-13 year old crowd could connect with. It made a bet on Avatar. I hope (and I believe) that it is a better guess than Galidor. My kids certainly are obsessed with this show (Avatar).

Lego is pursuing a dual approach of license-related products and more classic bricks/technic. Starwars is gone, and Batman I guess will replace it hopefully as their big bet. I think that they are making some side-bets on stuff like Spongebob and Avatar.

Good luck to them. Personally, I don't see any great sets coming out of this show unless they want to build a really awesome temple. But it appears that the temple set is going to be the lesser of the two, with the ship larger. I don't care much for ships other than the Classic Pirate big ones (BSB, SES), which are like works of art. The ship in Avatar is not particularly pretty to look at, so I am skeptical about this set.

However, all this is hot air.... we need to see what's out there.

ik tried to follow the above links, but i could not find anything.

However, prelim boxshots can be seen on toywiz.com

My links were to illustrate the show.

So people can familiarise themselves with it.

besides, there are lots of clips on the official site and fansites. they'll give you an idea what it's all about, just do a google search...

Actually, downloading it isn't illegal, but sharing it is. At least, that's the law over here. Just don't allow any uploads and you aren't doing anything illegal.

Well personally I've seen the first season and I find the show to be quite entertaining. The two part finale, Siege of the North, was particularly good.

I know that I will be purchasing these sets as soon as I can, especially the Fire Nation Ship.

Well, based on the other strange things LEGO have been doing recently, it defintely wouldn't surprise me. Has Avatar ever even been shown in the UK? They're also not listed on amazon.de, unlike all of the other 2006 sets.

It seems to me that the Avatar and Spongebob sets are US exclusives, all though I don't know for certain.

Yes, those are the only sets. I bought them today, and I intend to make them my first pictorial reviews, and hopefully I'll get them up tonight or tomorrow, so you can look forward to that.

The Avatar sets are way cool. Especially the Fire Nation Ship, even though I only bought it for the pieces. I do hope that they plan on making more. I will definitely get them.
