SWMAN Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Ok, so I know this game is not being released until Wednesday, but the demo has already been released. So, has anybody played the demo yet? I have, and it is really good. The interface is a lot different that previous versions, but the gameplay is basically the same. The graphics are a huge upgrade, so if your computer is old you will have to upgrade. I am a big fan of the series in general, and own Medieval II and the expansions, plus with my pre-purchase from Steam I got Rome Gold. I am really excited for the game, and I ended up buying a new graphics card. I would suggest downloading the demo to see how it will run before you buy. The medium graphic setting aren't really good enough to warrant buying the game. Quote
Holy Diver Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I played the demo, but it was too slow. I set the graphics to the lowest level to help speed it up, but it just looked terrible. As for gameplay, it was a good bit more indepth than the previous games. I look forward to buying it, even if the graphics suck on my computer. Quote
SWMAN Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 I played the demo, but it was too slow. I set the graphics to the lowest level to help speed it up, but it just looked terrible. As for gameplay, it was a good bit more indepth than the previous games. I look forward to buying it, even if the graphics suck on my computer. I had mine on medium, and it ran relatively smoothly. It takes a lot of time loading, but the battles ran ok. Still, after seeing the videos and screenshots and how good the graphics should be, I am not willing to not upgrade. I got the Nvidia 9600 GT, so hopefully I will be able to run it on Very High. The gameplay is definitely a lot better than other versions. I will be interested to see in the full game if you can capture prisoners. I am guessing you will be able to. The other thing about the game that excited me is the separate campaign that spans the creation of the United States. The first part is the settlement of Jamestown and the colonies. The second is you playing as the British in the French and Indian War. The final one is playing as the United States in the American Revolutionary War. Medieval II had something like this in the expansion pack, but not nearly as story/mission driven. Quote
kakarothusain Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 well i have never heard about this game before. So can anyone tell me whether it is a good game to play or not... Quote
SWMAN Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 well i have never heard about this game before. So can anyone tell me whether it is a good game to play or not... It is a pretty good game. It is a mix of a Turn Based Strategy game and a Real Time Tactics game. You play on a huge map of the world, managing your major cities, including your economy, construction, and military. Essentially, you control an empire (hence the name). Then, if you want to capture a city or territory, you build an army and engage the enemy in a Real-Time battle, controlling thousands of men and using tactics and terrain to your advantage. All around, it is pretty fun. If you are into fast-paced first person shooters, this isn't the game for you. But, if you like strategy and don't mind a slow game, you should play the demo. Quote
