Darth Legolas Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) It's so easy, you can do it too, and the best part, the exterior remains completely 100% unchanged! You will have to sacrifice the bombing feature. By some miracle, I had 6 blue seats, but you can use any color. If you notice the black 3 stud wide box is on a hinge so the cover lifts up and there is lots of space to stuff stuff in. Gunning Feature/Exterior: Unchanged Stability: Increased Seating and Weapon Holding: 4 people fit on inside, and 7 guns and lightsabers of all sizes fit in new holder. Bombing Feature: It was barely canon anyways. EDIT: CommanderCody77 asked if the hatch closes down, and I made this mod purposely so it will! The floor is lower, so minifig's heads won't touch the roof at all. In fact, there's a 3 stud height between them and the roof! Edited March 2, 2009 by Darth Legolas Quote
-JD- Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Good MOD. I'll do this sometime. It would be funny if Mace fell through the hole in the middle. JD Quote
Future74 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Simple and effective! Just the way I like 'em... Maybe add some pieces to close the gap between floor and wing setup? Quote
Darth Legolas Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 I could always put in some of the 2X2 thin plates with hole for axle and stretch across 2 by however long the interior is plates... Thanks! Quote
Millacol88 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Good simple MOD. If I had the set, I would use it. Quote
prateek Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Good simple MOD. If I had the set, I would use it. so would i and the seats too Quote
Darth Legolas Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 If you move both seats to studs 1 stud out and one stud back, you can fit in two more seats, but I won't do that because I want to keep them all blue. I'm working on a way to put the bomb dropping feature back in, and it's currently a good WIP. Quote
CommanderCody77 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Darth Legolas, when you close down the hatch does it still fit? For example when you put somebody at the side the hatch won't close down Quote
Darth Legolas Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Darth Legolas, when you close down the hatch does it still fit? For example when you put somebody at the side the hatch won't close down The hatch closes down 100% perfectly. My goal was to leave the exterior unaltered. I lowered the floor, instead of raising the roof, so it's still a perfect turnout! Quote
Loganwan Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Nice design. As soon as I built mine, I wanted to change it. Unfortunately, the LEGO design is WAY too small. The shuttle is supposed to hold 30 troops, and be able to enter under the cockpit. I like that you were able to change the interior without changing the exterior. Nice build. Quote
Smithy_Boy Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I would try to do the same but I love the play features on it too much to mod it . Quote
Darth Legolas Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Indeed, it was hard to part with the bombs. I am working on a way to MOD them back in. Also, if you aren't picky about details, and considering that in the shuttle the troops stand up, and don't even use chairs, you could just stuff about 10-12 clones in the back with the floor lowered if you tried. I tried, and succeeded! Quote
