Saw the following at Warehouse Mosgiel this morning

8200 Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen $14.99

8201 Classic Mater $14.99

8484 Ultimate Build Lightning McQueen $69.99

The small sets looked a lot nicer than the Ultimate Build, and when sales are on, cheaper than than actual Mattel toys

Yup. Happened to me before and I paid Customs and then complaint to Lego saying I thought their prices are GST inclusive and asking why then am I charged a second lot of GST by Customs. Lego apologised and refunded me what I paid Customs when I sent them the invoice. A small hassle but it all worked out in the end. I'll like to echo the comment that Lego's customers service is top notch. Best I ever dealt with.

thanks for that, i will pay it then email lego and complaint to them about it

i received a letter from customs today and they have my s@h order but i have to pay tax on it before they will release it to me

has this happened to anyone before? the bloody tax is huge making the set cost alot more

any advise?

Happened to me 2 years ago when I bought the Grand Carousel for $NZ399 from S@H on the day it first came out. Box label said the value was in Euros and the invoice inside did not state what currency it was in. DHL on behalf of customs said that it was worth over $NZ1000 after converting from Euros. I paid DHL $167 in extra tax to clear it as I needed it for a show.

I got hold of LEGO but after a few emails nothing happened. I am still out of pocket. This time the good LEGO service did FAIL!

As for the GST on goods imported, customs is allowed to do that - the threshold is over $400.

Having said that, you should be able to NOT pay customs, but simply prove that you paid GST on your purchase (ie, your S@H reciept) - they can then follow up with the supplier (ie Lego).

Having said that though, the S@H reciept shows GST at the old 12.5% rate, not 15%!

Went to TW today. Bought 7285 and 7286 for about $30. Only realised later that they put the 50% off on the Police truck  otherwise I would have bought something else. What did everyone else buy?

Posted

Went to my TW hoping to spend under $50 with the Clone Trooper Battle Pack at $12.50 (after discount 50%) and Battle of Naboo at $35 (after discount 30%)

Instead I found that the prices had risen a little meaning the Battle of Naboo was $55 to $38.50 and the Clone Trooper Battle Pack at $28 to $14

I'm sure these aren't usually priced this way I mean who would pay $28 for the Battle Packs?

Only the Hoth Battle Packs were at $25.

Anyone else finding these prices elsewhere?

Also was hoping to find some POTC sets but there were none???

I went around the Auckland Toyworlds this weekend and they all seemed to have regular prices. There were plenty of PotC sets as well, so they must have simply sold out already at your Toyworld. I only had trouble finding the Captain's Cabin set, which had sold out on the North Shore, but I managed to pick up 4 at the Onehunga Toyworld for an averaged 31.25% off. :cry_happy:

Does anywhere still have the 2010 Train stuff? It's not at the TW near me anymore. Has anyone else seen it anywhere? Also, there was PoTC stuff at Riccarton TW, but the Captain's Cabin was $30, unlike the Farmers price of $20, so I didn't get any. It's roughly the same as 20% off at Farmers

Try TW in Coastlands, Wellington. They have one of the better selections of Lego around. Last time I was in there, they had both 2010 trains, plus they also had multiple packs of 7499 Straight and Flexi track packs. I know they also do Credit card over phone and arrange delivery.

Hey guys big news!

We can finally buy lego from Amazon! :cry_happy:

I noticed it the other day when I was looking up how much it was to buy CDs. So it's $13.99 US per shipment then $2.50 US per pound. This makes buying Lego in New Zealand so much cheaper. I think I'm going to try and see how well it goes with a few sets to see how well their shipping goes with the boxes.

How are you doing this? I've tried adding few things to my cart, both items sold and fulfilled by Amazon, and also those sold by third-parties.

Either way, I get what Amazon calls 'a slight problem' - that they can't ship the order

I don't see whats new? Amazon's always sold to NZ, but only specific departments... Of which is Toys is not. I can't see that it's changed, but If it has, awesome! Let me know what you find :classic:

So, again not New Zealand

My bad guys!

I thought I was onto something when I just saw toys on the list. Apparently Amazon doesn't call Lego a toy even when it's in their toy section... Oh well.

So what did everyone manage to pick up at the toy world sale? I was busy all weekend and couldn't get in but I'm not that worried about it.

I've ordered lego from Barnes and Noble in the states. Got 4 of the Pharaoh's Quest sets from them. Pyramid, sphinx, cobra and Gold staff guardians for $255NZ including shipping, which wasn't too bad. They split the order though. The Pyramid arrived in 19 days, the last 2 sets arrived after 39 or 40 days.

Only mention because at Bricksdownunder.com they've said there's another 30% off 1 item coupon for them and that's what I used for my last order. Coupon is V7T4Y4X. Haven't tried it but worked fine last time.

They had excluded the new Cars and POTC sets last time I checked though.

I didn't get anything either - nothing <$30 appealed.
