epic_red Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Went to the Warehouse in Riccarton yesterday. Had 3x Series 3 boxes and 3648(Police Chase) which I didn't see at Farmers so maybe an exclusive? Anyway, forgot my wallet so will have to go back to get the Gorilla!
CommanderFox Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Went to the Warehouse in Riccarton yesterday. Had 3x Series 3 boxes and 3648(Police Chase) which I didn't see at Farmers so maybe an exclusive? Anyway, forgot my wallet so will have to go back to get the Gorilla! Funny, when I went to my local Warehouse today im sure they didn't have any of the Series 3 figs. Are they at the counters? Cause I can never find them. CF
nzkiwiman Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Picked up 6 more minifigures from the two Dunedin Warehouse stores - City has them in the Lego isle, while South has them at the checkouts. With a whole lot of fondling of the packages, some swearing and cursing I decided that I had enough and came home to open what I had found. Sadly I wasn't as accurate as I could have been - ended up with two aliens, another indian, but got the fisherman, evil space robot guy and the snowborder (which were all surprises) Now to find race car driver, pilot, elf and mummy .. Least I managed to get these 6 at 20% off.
David Thomsen Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Is any store selling the Bank & Money Transfer? I thought it was coming out later in the year, but it's on S@H now. I didn't see it at the Warehouse or Farmers, so I'm assuming it's a Toyworld exclusive? To answer my own question, the website says 'Backorders accepted, expected ship date 12 Jan 2011', so I guess that's why I haven't seen it anywhere... Incidentally, I can't remember who it was, but someone was going to sell me the taxi from the train station set in a sealed bag with the relevant instruction booklet and stickers for $30 plus shipping (or I could pick it up within Wellington)... is this still happening? I haven't heard anything in the last few months, and am thinking of renewing the offer if anyone else wants to take it.

nzkiwiman Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Decided that paying an extra $1 until the next sale wasn't going to work so went back to my local Warehouse (Mosgiel) and started feeling up some more baggies. Got home wioth my three baggies and thankfully, 3 out of 3 - Elf, Mummy and Racer I am still after a Avaitor - I just can't seem to feel his parts in the bags at all, so if anyone gets an extra let me know Opened up my police sets today - Minifigure collection, Police Dog Unit, Car Chase. Aswesome little sets - love the trike and quad bike and think I have almost enough police cars now to complete my requirements. Now to use Trademe or other sources to pick up the coast guard sets I want but passed on too many times when lego wasn't fully in my aim to collect.

Dot method too hard, packing order in new box did not match list I was given so in the end I used the feel method which was very successful. Also have 5 baseball players so far (making a team) and 4 snowboarders so far to go in a future snow/ski scene with all my series 2 skiers. Also bought a few police sets in Wellington and the police chase in Napier. I retrieved from my storage unit in Napier all the train sets from last year, 1 modular fire station, 3 grand emporiums and 2 readers choice transport sets to build up for an upcoming hobby show display in Taupo. Lots of building to do Edited January 4, 2011 by AllanSmith

AoNZ Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Hi guys. Been on a holiday so missed all the action. Just to recap so Series 3 are released and there are no particular places where they are cheaper and they are only at the Warehouse and ToyWorld as usual? Star Wars battle packs etc. (new ones) are out and is there any store that particularly makes them cheaper (eg. is Farmers 30% still in effect)? Thanks and hope you guys had a good Christmas and New Year.

Not sure about the Series 3 figs, but yes, Farmers is the cheapest at the moment, (warehouse also have a sale but not as good - only 20% off). So Farmers prices are with sale reduction: Battle Packs - $17.50 Battle of Naboo and V-Wing - $35. Bounty Hunter Gunship - $70. T6 shuttle - $105. Hope this helps and I recommend Battle of Naboo and the BPs = CF Edited January 4, 2011 by CommanderFox

Definitely need to go and pick those up then sometime and does anyone know when the sale finishes? Not bad pricing and I don't think we will see them this cheap for some time so out now to go hunting in Wellington. Thanks

Farmers Sale ends on the 7th as Legoman said. Yeah, my thoughts exactly, I think i'll be getting another clone BP and maybe the V-wing. CF
AoNZ Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Just an update: Went to Farmers and asked about sale for Lego and they said that there were none. Checked Warehouse and Farmers which had the new Lego Star Wars but none were on sale and both places were missing the Naboo set. Series 3 I found in Warehouse with 4 boxes and after ages feeling through the bags found the ones I wanted. The dot system is really hard as the dots are not easily visible as I would have thought. Hope that helps anyone out around here.
kiwishark Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi all I was at the Albany Warehouse yesterday, just checking out what they had- no Series 3 mini figures in evidence, but then... looking way up I saw what looked like an unopened, lego labelled cardboard box. I could see clearly labelled Mini figures series 3, 2 boxes within. I think it was directly above the bulk of the Ninjago sets. If you're looking there, maybe ask the staff to bring it on down- this was at about 3pm yesterday.
nzkiwiman Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Lego sales at Farmers and Warehouse ended yesterday (4th) so your not going to have any luck today :-)

nzkiwiman Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Need help - having just got into this Lego thing - after trying to keep to my main love (Transformers), - I need to know correct terms as well as possible places to purchase things (in New Zealand if available). Just purchased 12 1:43 model car display cases (13cm * 6cm * 6cm) which I aim to display some of my smaller transformers in as well as Lego and Halo Minifigures that I have picked up over the past 18 months. I plan to line the case with a brick plate, and then use the classic 8 stud brick to make a riser to display some items higher than the others. I need to actually get the cases in hand before I know what size the brick plate needs to be - but are there any stores in New Zealand that sell these loose parts? I had a look at S@H, but they didn't have black available. Hope this makes sense and I have used the correct terms to describe the parts wanted.

Hey nzkiwiman, if your meaning does anywhere in NZ sell loose lego parts, then no, we currently have no Lego store where they have Pick A brick or 'parts' walls in there shops. If you want to buy parts the best option is Bricklink. There you can browse and buy whatever parts you want. You'll need an account though and most likely a Paypal account if your buying from over seas stores. Hope that helps. Don't hesitate to ask more questions! CF

CF So I got my little cases in today, and using a 6x6 brick I had from one of the Ninjago sets, found the case was a perfect fit for a 8x16 base place. Using bricklink, I found sellers who had dark grey, dark blueish grey and light grey. My question is - what colour is this blueish grey? I wanted to get black, but it doesn't seem to exist :-)

Using bricklink, I found sellers who had dark grey, dark blueish grey and light grey. My question is - what colour is this blueish grey? I wanted to get black, but it doesn't seem to exist :-) Back in 2004, Lego did a huge clean up of their colour palette, a part of which was a transition of the Grey colours. Have a read of this article as to why TLG did the change - its quite interesting. LINK In answer to your question though, Blueish Grey (or Bley) comes in 2 flavours - Light and Dark. They are named so, as although they really are grey, they have a slight bluish tint - kind of like a smurf fell into the plastic molding machine. The colour difference is especially obvious when the newer bley bricks are sitting next to their old counterparts. The older grey has a brown undertone, and IMHO, looks, well - a bit dirty. Heres another website that has a comparison. LINK. So, Dark Grey and Light Grey have not been produced since 2003 / 2004, so all Grey bricks released since then have been of the 'Bley' variety. Hope this helps.
nzkiwiman Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Sweet, thanks for the heads up regarding the colours. I paid for my first bricklink order this morining containing dark grey 8 x 16 base plates for my setups. Hope they arrive soon Kmart in Dunedin have put out SW Battle Packs, but at $25 compared to $22 for last years. Along with the spinner sets for Ninjago ($17), 2258 Ninja Ambush ($12), 2516 Ninja Training Outpost ($9), 2259 Skull Motorbike ($29) and 2260 Ice Dragon Attack ($39)
