SavaTheAggie Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Just a few weeks shy of three years ago, I announced my MOC version of the Polar Express. Since then I've upgraded it many times, adding more and more detail. Tonight I sat down and photographed it. Flickr Gallery Brickshelf Gallery "Well, ya' comin'?" --Tony Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Ah, was is this from that trashy Disney film? Your MOC looks cool from what I can tell, but the folder hasn't moderated yet. But I'll check back tomorrow. Quote

The Brickshelf gallery is moderated now, so feel free to check it out, though the Flickr gallery was always available for viewing. great MOC.nice locomotive design. i like the car interior too. really similar to the film. awesome man. I like this train, and I'm utterly suprised it hasn't recieved more attention. This is a brilliant piece of work. I especially like the pipe-y things about half way down the loco. Well done! Quote

It seems my trains are either hit or miss here on Eurobricks, they either get a lot or very little attention. This one is apparently a miss. But I half expected it for this one, since it's just a modification of a MOC I've had for three years. --Tony Quote
Freddie Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) I guess timing has it's space in the equation, too. Just look at what happened in the same time-frame when RB5 and Cale's locomotive came out! That, and trains is a bit of a niche-theme right now - here's hoping that will change! That said, this is a very nice train. If I had to pick out something that I really like, it's the last train car with the terraced end, that one looks fantastic. As for the engine, err, I can't help but think that it just looks a little plain - but then again it's based on a movie prop real locomotive. Edit: Didn't see that bit. Sorry. Asuka Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It´s for sure one of the most wonderful MOC trains I´ve ever seen, very elegant and distinct in appearance. Simply a smooth and very well detailed work. Those engine controls look very fitting too! Quote

As both my Flickr and Brickshelf gallery state, the engine is not based on a movie prop, but a real locomotive, the one on which the movie prop was based, the Pere Marquette #1225 Berkshire class locomotive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PM1225.jpg --Tony Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 That's an absolutely amazing Train MOC, Tony! Although I must admit that when I saw the first part of this movie around Christmas on TV I really didn't like it. It was too corny and too extreme - plus you didn't know what really the plot shall be. But that has nothing to do with Lego, e. g. CW is imo and IJ is imo but many of the sets TLG made out of it are - and that's the same with your excellent MOC: I really it! It's perfectly designed and - if I remember right - all interior elements of the movie are inclued (even Santa Claus, the conductor, the cooks, ..., and that brain-minded person which makes a campfire on the train (how oafish of the scriptwriter )! Very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
