DNL Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 A couple of weeks ago i realised that there are very few roman MOCs, so i decided to make this little temple: More pictures Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 This is very nicely done! So many ornaments and details on the temple. Awesome. I like the two roman soldiers too. It just like so they are discussing about the horse dung between them. The chariot is great as well. Some chariots had sharp knifes pointing out of the wheels to cut the infantry men's legs off. :skull: It would be even cooler if you put knifes on the wheels. Quote
DNL Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 Thanks! Some chariots had sharp knifes pointing out of the wheels to cut the infantry men's legs off. :skull: It would be even cooler if you put knifes on the wheels. So he can chop of the legs of the citizens in the streets? Quote
hewkii9 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Very nice! I really like your technique for the soldier's legs. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 This is a fantastic MOC and extremely detailed. I love the architecture of the buildings complete with statues (a very nice touch). I also like the way you created the road and the chariot. When I was a kid, we use to build Roman Chariots using the round macaroni bricks to make a front curve (three on each side). I really like your design. This is a top notch scene! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 What a wonderfull work, the detail on the brickwork is amazing and that little chariot just adds to the Roman feel. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted February 14, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted February 14, 2009 I'm in love Honestly, I would pay some bucks for this one if it was a set. It's amazing. I like it so very much that I've put it on the frontpage. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Thanks! So he can chop of the legs of the citizens in the streets? I thought chariots were often used for battles. Quote
gravysam Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 wow! nice job on the frount page btw! Quote
Lego12 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I saw this earlier, but I didn't comment. Anyways, this is beautiful! Great and accurate details! Quote
Batbrick Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Oh that is beautiful. The temple is wonderfully designed, I especially like the spire at the top. The red slopes blend in seamlessly too. I love the use of handcuffs and axes, very clever. And that cart is amazing. Top job! Batbrick Away! Quote
Deemo Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Nicely done! The chariot is really well designed as is the temple. Kudos to a great Roman MOC! Quote
Tanotrooper Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 A very nice temple, but this looks more Gothic styled than Roman to me. (little tower) The MOC is great though! (nice technique for the legs) @ cap'n Blackmoor: the Romans didn't use chariots in war, nor can I recall a civilian use. (2 wheeled that is) They were used in horse races though. (circus Maximus) TT Quote
I Scream Clone Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Very nice work DNL, The soldier legs look cool, nice tan there The temple does look a little over detailed lending more towards Gothic than Roman, but super nonetheless. Thanks for sharing. PS any chance we could interest you in an entry for the CCB? Quote
drdavewatford Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Great job - looks like it could have been an official Lego product ! Dr. D. I should also have added that the builder is an absolute genius - just check out some of the other creations on the Flickr photostream. Brilliant ! Dr. D. Quote
¹²³← Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Great job - looks like it could have been an official Lego product ! I would say this is better than an official product! Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Very nice... nice technique and part use... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 That's an absolutely amazing MOC, DNL! I really it! The architecture is perfect and the details are totally awesome! I really like the minifig constellation and the cart! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
brickzone Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Absolutely wonderful MOC. I really like both the actual aesthetics of the temple and detailing, as well as the creativity and inventiveness that has gone into choosing the design and such an array of elements to create the stonework. The streetscene and landscaping finishes it off by providing a convincing setting for the temple. I do like the look of the chariot and minifigs also. Quote
DNL Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Thanks everybody I'm in love Honestly, I would pay some bucks for this one if it was a set. It's amazing. Very nice work DNL, The soldier legs look cool, nice tan there The temple does look a little over detailed lending more towards Gothic than Roman, but super nonetheless. Thanks for sharing. There are some very detailed roman buildings, and it just looks nice PS any chance we could interest you in an entry for the CCB? I'm quite busy at the moment, i'm building an entry for the job muller contest at CC, and after that i have to start building a castle that i'm going to display at a model train show at the end of march, but after that i'll probably have time.(if that isn't too late?) Ahsoka Tano Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Very good. That is fantastic. There are so many details. It give not sth., what you should build other. MMMmmmm..... I want to have it.. Ahsoka Tano Quote
Zepher Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I love anything Roman, but this just takes the cake. not only is it wonderfully built, but it looks authentic too! You are truthfully one of the best castle builders. Now, build the rest of Rome. Quote
Basiliscus Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 A very nice MOC! Loads of great architectural touches on the building itself, but the chariot is also very unique. I like the expression on the chariot-drivers face. That's an interesting idea using the smaller legs for the soldiers in that way. Very nice! Quote
Loganwan Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Wow, just wow. That is a lot of detail in a very small area. Very Roman looking. Quote
