Legoman Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I'm very happy about all this news, but not about the V-wing i think it is a waste of time becouse it is expanded universe i hate that stuff it seems so fake to me.Why can't they just stick to the real star wars stuff, becouse i dont remember seeing the V-wing in any of the star wars movies if anyone else has seen it please tell me becouse i havent seen it .and if lego starts making more expanded universe stuff i might stop collecting star wars lego *devil* Jul 10 2005 That's right. I've hated EU all along Thats over 3 years ago... Wow. Quote

Derek Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) Wow. I am quite emabarassed about my first post. From back when I still was 'darthperson8'... Hi ive been a long time reader on her and ive finally mustered up the energy to register. I have been collecting lego for several yeas now, specifically star wars, harry potter, and now castle. I won a harry potter building contest over at Millionaire Playboy.com this summer. Thats me! (at least the lego aspect)Thanks for the time! DP8 I am really surprised I spelled that terrible! And didn't capitalize and punctuate! And now I'm a stickler for all of those things. What an embarassment. Edited February 13, 2009 by darthperson Quote

General Armendariz Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Heres my first post It was for the pillage the village contest! Vig. 23aMY CONTEST ENTRY FOR PILLAGE THE VILLAGE. Here's the plot: in port Marina a group of pirates heard that there's treasure that the British just found. The British were caught off guard with the attack. The pirates attacked on land and also are firing cannon balls from their nearby vessel. In this scene it is evident that the pirates are overcoming the British. EDIT: THE pictures are updated now they have better faces That shark looks like he's on the British side Sorry for the red and green bricks in the base. I kind of wasn't paying attention of what pieces I was using for the base. But one can imagine that the red brick is a later addition to a pier that is not in the best condition. Or the people who were building the port either were lazy or short on gold . And hey, what if the green is just seaweed Hope you like my entry, comments and suggestions appreciated. Yeah good times, How silly I never really introduced myself . Should I not show the pics? because It might take a while to load? Quote
Zorbas Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Greetings Eurobricks! I was lurking (this is the second most popular word after "bricks" in this forum ) here for over two months and i finally decided to give it a try. I’m from Greece, i'm 30 years old and since i were a child i was a Lego fanatic. City (mostly) and Pirates were and still are my two favourite themes and i have a great number of sets from the Classic era (90% City - 10% Pirates , one small Castle and one small Space set.) My first Lego set was a Basic set with the armless blue and red figures and my first Legoland set was this (analog camera- o tempora o mores..) Unfortunately, the dark clouds of Mordor Dark Ages made their presence around 1993-94 and not until this year's fall, almost no Lego experience occured. Studies, career in the work field and later family were the priorities. So, 2 1/2 months ago, i was surfing through internet, can't really remember how i ended up in here and BAM! the fever returned. I started observing the new sets (all the last 15 year's sets were like brand new to me), searching for pictures, reading articles and opinions from other AFOLs ("AFOL"?) *looks up in the dictionary* and finally made the first step. I brought the 2 large suitcases i had my Lego collection in, from my grandparents house and the journey to the past begun. All the pieces and all the sets were there. Nothing was lost. Not having a "contact" with the Lego world doesn't mean i didn't care for the collection. I had stored them very carefully. The only set i didn't "unbuilt" back then and is still intact ( the first-1990- was the only built) is the Black Seas Barracuda and that was because i had lost the instructions so I treated it like gold. I even had covered it with a plastic bag and there is, until now, hardly any dust on it. Anyway, the last two months i have bought 27 sets (from the impulse sets and the police bike to the City Harbour the Creator houses and Police HQ - i overdid it, i know, but i don't care, I can buy my Lego now ). Some things about those really excited me (new brilliant colours, new building techniques -my oh my! ), some were a little dissapointing ( too many stickers, no car doors(!), too many "service - duty"sets, many big "<insert that tiresome argument>" pieces, almost one wheel type for all vehicles) but i guess maybe some innovations are part of what we call evolution (like the 6-wide cars, still trying to get used to those). I have also rebuilt the majority of my Classic Town collection and luckily only some not crucial bricks are missing. My City collection continues after a 15-year break. The only thing that i must find is enough space for it. The MOCing experience I had was a hovercraft-catamaran like ship, an ancient greek temple with a roof and a statue inside and of course zillion of cars and no-identity buildings (if you can call the last two MOCing). Perhaps i 'll try to get into the sport again in a more "advanced" way. I could write for hours now, hope i didn't become tiring so i better pull the handbrake. Very happy to be here, greetings again! Maybe a bit long but, hey, 15 years of dark ages... Quote
Shoc Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Mine was in the Mars Mission 2008 topic, referring to the alien commander: Yeah... Finally a proper MM alien! Why couldn't they have all been like that? I hope it does come in an Impulse set, as I will be buying a few! *alien* Woo - first post. Haha, it never did come in an Impulse set, but I bought one set with the alien commander in not long ago, and it is great, though not as great as the upcoming Space Police aliens look! :skull: Quote
Eilif Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hello folks, I'm Eilif. I discovered your forum a few weeks ago and I finally joined. I'm in Chicago, so I hope the folks on the "Euro" side of the pond won't hold it against me. I've been into LEGO since the 80's and I've never had a full-on dark ages, but a few years out of college, I've found myself in the midst of my personal LEGO Renaissance. It seems LEGO is having a Renaissance also and I am loving the direction LEGO has recently taken with the Market Street series (Green Grocer my favorite is LEGO set ever) revitalized Town series, Creator Houses, Castle, etc. Great time to be an AFOL! There's my first post. I assumed at the time that the group was mostly European, which turned out to be only partially true. Also, I slightly exagerated my lack of a dark ages. I picked up a set here and there, but from 96-2004, I probably bought less than 5 LEGO sets. Thinking about it now, less than a set a year and almost no build time definately qualifies as a dark ages. My posting style hasn't changed much, but them I'm an adult, and have tried for some years to be pretty carefull with my online posts. However, I did a similar search on Talkbass.com, a music forum that I've been a member of since 2001 (early college). Some of my early posts were truely embarassing. Quote

Oky Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Well, in my first post, I commented on the early 2008 SW set pics. In comparison with most other first posts, this is kind of a long one. Here it is. A bit n00bish, but by far not as much as it could have been. This reminds me that I never introduced myself here. Perhaps I should post a late introduction later. Edited February 17, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
