The Minifigure is probably the most iconic figure that symbolizes LEGO. Throughout the years, our beloved minifigs have evolved from the simple smiling face dude to the more detailed ones of the current generation. Today, billions of minifigures have already been produced by TLG.

If you were to choose among the hundreds (or thousands) of unique LEGO minifigures ever released, what will your choices be? Choose the top minifig for you in the 5 most popular LEGO themes: Town, Pirates, Castle, Space, and Licensed/Other Themes.

Here are my choices:

Town - The Original LEGO Policeman - the first ever minifig released by TLG on 1978 --> grand daddy of all minifigs!

Space - The classic Space Police!

Pirates - the 'ol ye Pirate Captain

Castle - the majestic King

Others/Licensed - Darth Vader representing Star Wars as the most successful licensed theme

These are my top minifigs of all time, what's yours?

Space. The Female Insectoid is really cool, considering the ugly bugs that make up the rest of the "chracters"

Town Res-Q was my first Town set

Pirates. The new Female pirate =D

From the first Castle set I bought, apart from hand me downs I had none until Knights Kingdom II

From other themes I pick Cam from Alpha Team.

Great topic!

These would be mine:

I don't think any of them need introductions but, just in case, they are from left to right:

Yellow Futuron Spaceman

Airline Pilot

Governor Broadside

Princess Leia in her Hoth gear

Knight from the Mountain Fortress

Good topic and as a minifig lover its really hard to pick but here goes:

Town -The early 90s policeman, he has been a favourite of mine for years and before anyone starts complaining about Town Junior I made one like this several years before that was released so he was all classic

Castle nearly picked the maiden from the MMV but the Jester is just too cool to ignore.

Pirates - So many to pick but I am really liking the new Redcoats but there must be an honourable mention for the Mermaid and Governors daughter

Space - Never really been a huge Space fan, in fact I almost cheated and put a Star Wars one here  but I did quite like the Ice Planet guys.

Other/Licensed - This for me is really hard for me to pick since there are great figures in the Western and Adventurers lines and I really like the old Aquanauts then there are so many great licensed figs - Indy, Darths Vader and Maul, Yoda, Han (the yellow one from the first Falcon), Dr Jones Senior, I could go on for ages but if forced to pick I will still sit on the fence and go for a tie between R2D2 and the Studios Vampire and a last honourable mention to the lovely Agent Trace

Sorry for the links instead of pics, its late and I'm feeling lazy and sorry for cheating by going for other and licensed but I struggle to pic favourite minifigs

Aquanaut 1 - Introduced those sweet helmets and visors, and of course the now ubiquitous flippers. "Aquanaut 1" was the guy with the headband, whose head is the best of the three in my opinion.

Blacktron 1 - Everything about these guys screamed "bad to the bone." A lot of my friends' old LEGO collections have five or six of these guys apiece. I don't even have one.

Cloud City Boba Fett - Again, not one I have myself. I have his brother with the non-printed legs and arms, but Cloud City came out during my dark ages. How I wish I had one, but I'm not paying the ridiculous prices for one on BL.

Majisto - Oh, how we take wizards for granted these days. Back in the day, Majisto was Senor Sorcerer Numero Uno and I and all my friends HAD TO HAVE HIM.

Wild West Cavalry - I've used these guys in more MOCs than I can count now. They look great, and I've fit them in to all kinds of themes: wild west, (of course,) post-apoc, even space.

Town – Blue Flowers - one of the most beautiful women in the Lego world.

Space - Ice Planet Miner.

Pirates - Aye aye! Captain Red Beard .

Castle – Royal King - My favorite minifig of all time.

Others/Licensed – I find your lack of bricks disturbing - Darth Vader .

By the way, the topic is brilliant.

Here are mine: Probably not the best looking or coolest Minifigs ever made, but for me everyone brings back special memories:

post-4088-1234297317.jpg

From the left to the right:

The evil-looking alien-boss from the U.F.O.-series: When U.F.O. was released, I fell completely in love with lego space, unfortunately I did not have the money to buy all of the existing sets. But I must have played thousands of hours with their flying headquarter. This figure was the most unique one from the series and I own it still today in a good condition. U.F.O. was also the last space-series I owned before i fell in the dark ages.

The red knight from the royal knights: Has always been my hero number one, only appeard in 6090 "Royal Knight's Castle", this was the only big castle (and at that time it was the biggest castle ever released) I owned when I was a child (at the age of 12 or so)

Captain Ironhook: I always thougt he was called "redbeard" until I read some months ago here at eb, that his name is "Ironhook", One and only pirate-captain I own, has even survived the times when I tried to burn lego-elements (Yes, that was really stupid, and yes, I was really young)

The Scouttrooper: As I am not the biggest fan of Star Wars (like ep 4-6 though), I thougt, this was lego´s version of a Stormtrooper, short time after I received him, my dark ages began.

last Figure: Don´t know how he is called, with (I think) white legs it was the first minifig I got. He had some very difficult adventures to manage with the white jeep he was in :D.

Snowtrooper: I like real snowtroopers and LEGO did great job with it.

Ufo: Those helmest are so nice, I like the brain pattern.

Agent Trace: Hairpiece is best hairpiece ever, and torso is great too.

Dwarf: Small legs, long beard, great helmet. I like those little mans.

Female pirate: Again I love hairpiece, and torso is nice.
