soc399 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 When I was studying in Greece last year, I only had a few sets with me. One of them was the amazing Dwarves' Mine, but I wasn't totally satisfied with the layout of the mine. I wanted it to be more defensible and decided to elevate some of the tracks. I used only the pieces from 7036 and managed to incorporate them all (I don't remember whether I used the extra pieces or not). The pictures aren't very good, but it's way too late to take any more. Thanks for looking! Brickshelf Gallery (when moderated) -soc399 Quote
Asuka Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 That´s a nice work, the mine looks charming and more enclosed witch adds for sure a more realistic feeling to it. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Very nicely done - I might just have to try that with my 'Mine.... Quote
TLV Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I think its quite impressive that you only used bricks from the set itself to rebuilt it, yet retaining all the features of the original dwarf mine like the slide, rail, lowering bucket, etc. I really like how the rails hang in mid air too. I too have a dwarf mine mod, but i used much more bricks than yours. Maybe I'll show it soon. Might have to borrow your hanging rail idea. Overall a great job modding the mine. Quote
Dadster Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Nice. I too never liked the original design thinking it should have been more of a front + back rather than mostly just front... Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I like it! You can see it has completely changed, for the better! I like the railways to transport the ores over the mine. From the outside it looks a pretty defensive structure. Awesome job! Quote
soc399 Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Thanks for all your comments. I'm back in the US with all my bricks now, and I'm planning to build a new Dwarves' Mine on a 48x48 baseplate. If I ever get around to it, I'll share some pictures. Quote
