After we had been getting great reviews of the great new Farm sets I thought that it is time to show you a farm MOC I designed about one year ago. Here you are: Farm House Somewhere in the suburban area, encirceled by a lot of meadows and acres and even some other farms there stands an old-fashioned farm house and a barn: The barn has two big gates for tractors or other big agrarian vehicles to drive in and out and one little gate for a lawn-mower. On its right side there stands an old tree. The old farm house has a main entrance in the front and a side entrance to the garden. The building consists of three floors: first floor with toilet, kitchen and farmhouse parlor, second floor with bathroom, bedroom, little office and balcony, the third floor harbors the attic: Here a closer view on the kitchen and on the farmhouse parlor: More pics can be found in this folder of my BS gallery (when public). Cool interior, love the typically German breakfast table (I have a table with a bench like that but I had to order it from a German mail order company - they don't sell them in Holland!) And that meat in the kitchen is hams that are hanging there to dry, right? I would like to see some more detail, though. Some big empty areas on the floors and walls. Maybe some more plants (if you have them) would make it a bit more lively, and some or other detail in between the farmhouse and stable. And those big grey arches over the smallish windows do not entirely convince me either. Quote

OK here are some more detailed thoughts: On the barn: I don't like the color changes at the hinges and arches. I know that's probably because you didn't have the colors you wanted. As a way to fix that, I'd frame the doors all in the color you're using for the hinges or arches. And the accent the rest of the building in that color. I'd also consider another color for the roof, because red and yellow makes me think of McDonalds, and while Old McDonald had a farm, the colors say Ronald McDonald... The yellow actually works better than I'd have thought. What else I'd change is, raise that double square door up to be a loft on the second floor and maybe do something to make it less boxy. As to the house: again I don't like those grey arches that appear to be grey only because you didn't have white ones. Again, what would help is to make the arch supports grey all the way to the ground. It also doesn't look like a farm house as much as it looks like a villa. I think that's the colors again and some of the architectural details (like the fences/flowerboxes in front of the windows). A covered porch would help make it more farmy. On the interior, I really don't like the thick floors, especially in different colors. The green makes it look like they carpeted their house with astroturf... I like the seating nook in the kitchen and the red furniture has a nice design (even if I don't like red for the color). Steve Quote

Yes, I wanted to create an old farm house you can find in Germany. If it's similar or not similar to farm houses in other European countries I don't know since I must admit that I didn't inform me about that. Nice house. But yes, that they are harms which hang there to dry is supposably the most likely possibility - good idea. Good Job Klaus, I especially like the use of nozzle pieces for table legs. But unluckily I washed them to hot or whatsoever - now they're bent. But when I've got time I'll sort them out. A nice work with some neat interior, and the barn looks pretty sweet as well. WesternOutlaw Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It's nice to see you build an actual structure out of bricks KD (as opposed to your terrific LDD creations). I think what really stands out for me is your interior detailing of the Farm House. The kitchen has that European/German feel to it with the wooden bench around the table. I like the oven and the cupboards. The dining room is equally nice with the China cabinet and grandfather clock (I really like the clock). The use of the faucet pieces for the dining room leg tables work very well and add some interest to the table. As far as the bedroom goes, I think the bed could benefit from some smooth tiles making it a bit more warm and cozy. Some additional colors might help as well. This is definately a large house that has potential for a Clue Mystery. I'd like to see your revised pictures as you work on more detailing and the suggestions that others have provided. Quote

With the bedroom you're right - a bit more color and a better designed bed would not have been wrong. I'm very happy to get such much feedback. But since I deisgned this MOC about one year I destroyed it already before a long time so that I can't change things.
