JCC1004 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) Well on some of my figs like Mace Windu the corners of his torso are rounded and on my snowtrooper the are sharp and more pointed. Is this wear or the mold? Edited January 18, 2010 by JCC1004 Quote
Khorne Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 It's the mold. Lego has used two different kinds of molds for minifig torsos (sharp shoulders and round shoulders) since around the time the first Episode 3 sets were released, I think. Hope this helps . Quote

They aren't seperated on Bricklink then. Thanks, i really thought it was heavy play wear, but it's a weird place for wear. Quote
Etzel Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 How funny, I've never noticed this before. I wonder why they have two different molds. I can't think of any practical difference between them. Quote
Front Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 It was actually discussed here on EB maybe half a year ago. Definately different moulds. I have no idea how many torso mould have been made during the last 30 years, but some of the earlier must have been made without 3D CAD models, and must have been milled with a "copy-machine" from a physical prototype. JCC1004 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 OnTHIS site there are pictures of the inside of some torsos with 3 variants. But the ones I was talking about have the same inside. Does it affect the value of the torso if it's sharp or not? Quote
