This thread is like a time machine, we're slowly working our way back to the original inspiration for this fine work that has been so often parodied, Edward Hopper's "Night Hawks".

Great job so far, especially since you lost that roof and added the interior details. I would switch to a more traditional chef figure to reduce any further risk of it being confused for a bar, but otherwise, I'm just sitting back and watching how it progresses.

Keep up the great work!

Now all we need are three bleak figures and an attendant cornered in between his bar and the wall... You're right though, funny how this little "time machine" has worked there.

Anyway, this is a wonderful MOC and it's turning into something awesome. I'm definitely thinking of copying / drawing inspiration from Hopper's Nighthawks in a future MOC myself!

I hadn't noticed this had been bumped. Unfortunately I haven't made much more progress since, but I did make a start on a new roof.

The new roof:

And a few pics of it in action, from Noir Mafia  :

... And finally what we've been waiting for:

Enjoy! :sweet:

Ah yeah, I remember this one from when I was still lurking on EB. This is really an amazing piece of work, both the exterior and the very detailed and clever interior. The new roof looks great so far TPRU! :classic:

I'm liking the newer roof design. Very nice with the curved roundish 4 x whateverplate.

I've been loving this more and more ever since I shot out the glass in Noir.

Man, that is a classy MOC right there. I'd buy that set in a second if LEGO produced it.

I don't remember seeing it suggested earlier in the thread, but have you ever thought of trying to give it some interior LED lights worked into the transparent bricks in the ceiling?

Looks great as it is though. Now add an anteater and some plastic chairs deino2.gif

A very nice Diner TinyPiesRUs!

I can't find much more to improve on, except more stools, and maybe as a nice feature, some light bricks or whatever you call them.

Great job though!

AWESOME simply awesome !

Excellent in design, from pavement to roof, very WWII era diner.

Totally fits in with Town Plan, get a bite to eat or a cup of coffee while your Nash gets a grease and oil change or before your catch a movie.

Great work 'TinyPiesRUs' and I'm a conformist! !
