Peppermint_M Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 This is both Lego related and applicable to anything. To buy or not to buy... I have this with Lego and Zoids, the inner nagging feeling that I am spending my money poorly. The main issue here though is I have a finite amount of time to buy Zoids (ebay being my only source) and I can um and ah about Lego right up to the end of year sales. How do you combat your To buy or not to buys? Quote
Fezziwig Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 For my hobbies unfortunately it usually is choose one or the other. If you really like both of them then I'd recommend a budget. You can spend half on one hobby and half on the other. Good luck! Quote
Freddie Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 My main argument for buying or not, is "Will I regret it?". At that point I'm doing rough calculations in my head of the economic consequences, if I have the space for it, if I really want it, what possibilites it presents etc. Altough, if I can't afford buying LEGO, I have a very simple solution for it: Don't go to the toy store! Peppermint_M Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Well, I bought the item in question, thats probably it until March when the conventions I go to happen again (the only other place Zoids are to be found). I am going to make a proper budget starting with my next payday. That'll help my indecsion, plus with the loss of the one highstreet store I buy Lego from I can manage my Lego purchases much better in future. Any other methods apart from budgets that you use? AgentRick Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Well one thing I must admit: I LOVE Gunlpa. Building the kits (Especially the Master Grades) Is enjoyable, with lots of details that you can put in them. Right now I'm picking up kits from U.C. 0079, And I was thinking about getting a larger kit then usual, treating myself for working hard on projects and such. Now should I get the Zeong or the Sazabi? They're priced around the same, and I have been saving up for a while. I might not even get one of them, as they are HUGE (The Sazabi stands a good 10 inches!). Which one should I get? Quote
frogstudio Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I see buying LEGO as an investment. I'm very carefull with my sets, and, if you consider how much the price rises as sonn as a set is discontinued, it's a really good investment. :) Well.. at least that's how I lie myself and get some peace of mind... :) Quote
mania3 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I buy regardless. And I've yet to regret it. I hope it stays that way. Quote
Shadows Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I buy regardless. And I've yet to regret it. I hope it stays that way. Exactly. The only time I've regretted a purchase is when I didn't make it. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Yes, I have found I regret not buying to buying (ok, sometimes my monthly statement comes in and i see the in/out totals...oops) I didn't buy Agents Mission 8 whenI saw it in Tesco, I ended up buying it on ebay earlier this week so I could have it Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Because I go shopping with my parents, I often "forget" my debit card at home, forcing my parents to pay for my Lego; no regrets for me! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 That'd never work for me :( Quote
