The Crazy One Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Calling all Lego fans and Doctor Who fans, Mr Spielbrick's exelent mocks got me thinking, wouldn't it be great if Lego started up a Doctor Who theme. I'm mean, we could have exelent cybermen, dalek, odd, slitheen ( Yes , I know, i'm a bit of a geek but i have been watching Doctor who for ages and have seen all the episodes ) weeping agels, hath etc. molds and some nice new suits , hair and heads for the humans, because come on, we cant really make realistic daleks for the current seris without out gold and some much needed , new pices. I think they would be a big market for DW in England at least and we would have more aliens to have fun with when playing or mocing Star Wars. Tell me what you think. T.C.O Quote
Pencoin Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It would be truly great, but the chances are highly unlikely. Quote
Skinny Boy Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Wouldn't this be a licensed theme? I don't watch the show, but it does look quite good. Maybe a set or two might look cool. Quote
MrCustomizer Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Drat! I wish Dr Who was more popular in US. I live in Texas and LOVE the show. But like you said, it wouldn't be recognized much here in US. :( I would love a Tardis, a Doctor, Rose, Donna, and a Dalek ! Quote
Mike Yates Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) not going to happen lego said it wont be popular enough,: so heres what im thinking the TLC Arethinking and what most people are thinking, why should they waste there money producing moulds and producing eachone when it wont be popular in most countries???? ... dont get me wrong i like it but i dont like the idea of lego and BBc Corporation only give out one toy makeing liscence and that got to character optiuons first (People who make the figures) Edited January 8, 2009 by Mike Yates Quote

SWMAN Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It might be big in England, but the American market would probably be pretty small. I only know one or two people who watch it, and I don't think a lot do. I think that Lego's biggest market is probably America, so if a theme didn't sell well there, they probably wouldn't make it Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks for the compliment, Crazy One (if you're crazy, I sure like your taste though). But yeah, like pretty much everyone here says - TLC doesn't think the market is big enough. While I generally agree with this, the Speed Racer and Avatar sets surprise me. If Who is deemed too "niche", why the heck do those two? Oh well. All we need is for the Beeb to convince other countries to broadcast Who and advertise for it as much as in the UK. Either that, or Peter Jackson should make a feature film based on a Steven Moffat script. The LEGO Doctor Who sets would sell like mad all over the world then. So yeah, it's not that impossible. Oh, to have an official mini Eccleston and Billie.... *drool* Quote

For me, they can bring it on!! Greets, The-Force! Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Great Idea!! and TLC already has some region specific sets, so why not target the UK with such a range! And lets face it, us Brits pay a decent margin on LEGO to make it worth thier while! Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Region specific sets? Seriously? Such as which? (Me feels like an utterly ignorant person now for not knowing what you mean...) Quote
hewkii9 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I believe Mr Hexagon is referring to the Bionicle promo sets [like the Turaga Lhikan one], Dino 2010, the Castle Advent Calendar, and the like. Oh, to have an official mini Eccleston and Billie.... *drool* Well I don't know about Eccleston, but we could always persuade Lego to make Secret Diary of a Call Girl sets for Billie... Quote
