Curtains? What are those?! :D

I'll think about the curtains, though I'm thinking of covering walls (near the window, too) with my set boxes. We'll see.

Today I got over 20 clear plastic boxes more from job, so sorting may continue at home!

(But first to local flea market to check any good brick offers)

then you should get blinds

Now there are some photos about my sorting system in Brickshelf!

Some photos might be a little blurry. There's almost my whole collection photographed (excluding complete sets), I think only minifig heads weren't present at that moment.

My inventory at the moment: 307 sets with 507 minifigures, 48813 bricks in those sets. The whole collection weights over 260 kg.

Had a look through your Brickhelf storage pictures. WOW! You have an astounding collection of vintage minifigs and aceessories (not to mention everything else. I'm not sure I've ever seen so many brown briefcases.

Glad to see everything is progressing well. Can't wait to see the pictures of the completed sets!

Those briefcases are from Chaos-Pick-A-Brick containers that there used to be at Finnish Hypermarkets now and then few years ago. (Huge boxes filled with random pieces to collect in a bin/bag/box for a certain price). For the same reason I also have about hundred pieces of 2x2 round tile with pie pattern and some other stuff. Oh, over 100 blue books...

Because your collection is so wide ranging why not have a town display that shows an evolution from castle through colonial (pirate) to modern town to future? Just a thought. I love these large scale projects as I have one of my own going called the Port of Brick Royal. The pictures and updates are amazing. Keep it up.

That's an interesting suggestion. If not completed variety of time zones, at least Pirates and Castle and others as some hidden features. I have some plans for the future, let's see how I can connect those ideas and your idea together.

D'oh!

My apartment is now full of bricks... It took me two journeys (=500 km) with my car to transport the collection I purchased a week ago. About 100.000 bricks and 600-700 sets more, now trying to get an idea how to organize and inventory those. Photos coming if needed and taken.

Don't tell me you bought the insane auction at Huuto.net that has been in there for ages! *huh*

I'm talking about an auction for a roomful of LEGO here in Finland, and the price tag was something like 3000 €.

Nope, this was a really really better deal. (And cheaper.) A collector contacted me and asked if I'm willing to buy his entire collection - main idea was that the bricks will get a good new home.

And oh my what a treasure chest the purchase has been - Monorail 6990 + accessory track pack assembled, half dozen 9V trains + additional locomotives and wagons waiting for inspection. A little dust on everything but otherwise everything is in perfect condition - all the instructions stored in maps, some old boxes also present.

Btw, the Finnish Huuto.net offer is almost 7000€...

Maybe it is time to update a little bit my project. It has been nearly 11 months since I purchased the two-cars-huge lot of bricks from a collector, and still I'm inventoring that case. Last year went just sorting the bricks, this year I've been able to build sets. I haven't have as much time as needed (moving together with my girlfriend etc.), but at least I haven't been too stressed about these bricks.

After Christmas (and after storing the whole lot into our sauna for a week) I understood that these newly-bought bricks can't be stored in our living room forever, so I managed to squeeze them in our hall's end and in my Lego room's first table (+ few other places). So all these parts haven't been collected into sets yet:

At some point I realised that my shelves are totally not capable to store all my sets, so during the winter I purchased more and more shelves to add the space needed. Best purchase was the large Ikea-shelf on the long wall. Still, I'm running out of space the whole time, so next investment is going to be similar shelf to the other side of the room, replacing the smaller shelves there are now.

In these photos there are my inventoried City, Train, Creator, Space, Fabuland and licensed sets.

And this wall with Technic, Racers, Castle, Western and Adventures is going to have new, big, shiny Ikea-shelves. The Pirates-wall at the back is going to remain the same.

I have huge, unrealistic ideas for the future and my BIG city project, so I'm beginning to be in a bit hurry with this thing. And after I have managed to build this big lot, I still have all my previous sets uninventoried, and also about 150 litres bricks from flea markets to sort...

Last week there was a triple jubileum in my collection - "total"(*) of 400kg; both 100.000 bricks and 1000 minifigs inventoried. There's now over 650 sets on those shelves.

(*)Total: My total collection without uninventoried sets from last summer's lot and sets with missing parts
