The Middleman Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 A question, do you think those nice "japanimation" bricks are printed or its crappy stickers once more ???* praying for printed parts !!!* On the black/red one, there are designs on weird sloped pieces, which they normally don't do, so I'm guessing either those are prototypes and the designs will be removed or they'll be printed. Norro Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Weird Life on Mars flashback. Though with the right pieces I may get some... God Bless, Nathan Quote
DoubleT Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 Funny NOrro i had the same feeling... Life on Mars on drugs... Quote
KMOI Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Ungh. I'm not really liking this, but the pieces look great. Somehow, these sets remind me of this guy's MOCs. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=147360 Quote
blueandwhite Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I'm not feeling this. The designs are average at best. I understand that this generation has a love affair with anime, but these designs are pretty bad. In fact, they seem like a poor attempt to capitalize on a market trend without really understanding it. These designs look like a rehash of 'Life on Mars', which doesn't really enspire me. With so many printed bricks, these pieces aren't very versitile, and the mech designs aren't anything to write home about. I wonder how Japanese consumers will percieve this line? I suspect that some will actually find it offensive. Time will tell I suppose. At least KKII year 3 looks promising. Strange times we're living in. Later. Quote
osakana Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Here are some pics !!! enjoy !!! The kanjis on 7700 mean "Dragon Wing". Why they didn't call the set after them? Quote
Josh120 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 When I first read about this theme, I was intrigued and excited. Anime-hair?!! Mechs?!!! Then I saw the pictures, and I have to say I'm dissapointed. This theme combines the most stereotypically bad saturday morning dubbed anime with lame and ugly mech designs. And to boot, all the hair is in zany colors. Not a bad thing, this IS manga inspired, but cant we have some relatively regular colors like black and brown just to make some mainstream characters even kids would like, like black-haired Saiyans or Heero Yuy, etc? Another wasted opportunity. Pity they couldnt look to the Titan XP set for inspiration on designs. -Josh Quote
Chuck Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but...this theme looks like total crap. 4 plate high hair peices? What is this?Lego is going the wrong direction. I'm in middle school, and what, 2 people in my grade out of 80 people like anime. Its like that ad for that Loonatics Unleashed crap I saw. If you can't turn Bugs Bunny into anime without making him look gay, than good luck with a theme. Now I'm not saying I don't like peoples MOCs of Gundam and whatever else there is, I just don't like this Quote
jindroush Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 A question, do you think those nice "japanimation" bricks are printed or its crappy stickers once more ??? 99.9% stickers Quote
sam89 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Oh, I was really hoping they were printed. Oh well, thanks for the news! Quote
Dino_Bot Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Well, lego2000 has a very good point. Anime-posers aren't a good thing. Except Teen Titans. Quote
Darkness Falls Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Well, I might get the small mechs just for the new pieces and the *drools* New minifig. But, quite frankly, I'm not too impressed with this line. Where's a good HQ when you need one? I think that would've boosted the coolness by a lot. Quote
christopher110 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I really like robots.......... So, this theme is a must-buy for me......... (have to save $$ starting from now) Are they divided into two teams? The good guys and the bad guys? So, the bright-colour-haired will be the good guys and the others will be the bad one? Which sets belong to the good one? Quote
Chuck Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I really like robots.......... So, this theme is a must-buy for me......... (have to save $$ starting from now)Are they divided into two teams? The good guys and the bad guys? So, the bright-colour-haired will be the good guys and the others will be the bad one? Which sets belong to the good one? The bronze battle droid-looking guys are (obviously) the bad guys, and they fight against the Yugioh posers over the heart of the pokemon...I don't watch anime so I would not know how a storyline goes. They're all pretty much the same to me. I do know one thing though...Spiky haired people are almost always the good guys, while robots equal in height are always the bad guys. I learn new things in school everyday. Quote
Khorne Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 They look like crap! I mean, c'mon, man, green hair that's way to big for the minifig's head? Crappy designs. Thank god that there still is KKII:3 for 2006. Quote
optimus-convoy Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Exo-force looks pretty intresting. I've always wondered what it would be like for Lego to make an anime/manga style theme. The mech designs look a bit too much like life on mars (which isn't that bad a thing), but it would've been more intresting to see some more sleeker designs. Like a humanoid mecha with the pilot consealed. The Minifigs look pritty freak with that hair, and I didn't like those droid/ alien things at first but they're starting to grow on me. It seems like they're almost as articulated as a minifig (head, arms, wrists)but the legs seem to be one piece. I think I'm gonna like the exo-force. Quote
DoubleT Posted October 15, 2005 Author Posted October 15, 2005 One can only agree with a guy named Optimus ;) but the two legs mechas does look good, i look forward to see them, maybe edit them alittle.. Quote
SuvieD Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 *sing* EXO FORCE! EXO FORCE! EXO FORCE! EXO FORCE! EXO FORCE! *sing* The more I think about these the more I want to get them. I wish they had more variety in the characters though. Two heroes (three good guy sets but one is a duplicate figure) and three total robots only, how is that a big struggle. Maybe we can get a figure pack with extra minis not in the sets and some cool weapons or something. I really like the white mecha. These sets seem like a hybrid of bionicle and alpha team. Which isn't bad as long as we don't get too many of those 1 use parts. I say bring on exo force! Quote
Khorne Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I might get 7703 Fire Warrior, but only because it resembles a Warhammer Dreadnought. I'll give him smaller legs and scrape of the Jap symbols. The minifig will be purged just like my fleshtones. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Meh, I'm kinda afraid these will be changed when they get to Europe because they may be considered to violent...I only like the MF anyway...think I might pick up some of the cheaper sets, they seem to have some useful pieces :) Quote
sam89 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 We've heard news that these sets will be the same for all countries, so they won't be changed. Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I doubt that they will get rid of the weapons, because those pics were taken from a german Lego retailer catalogue ;) Quote
languages Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Hopeflly they are released..... PS. 700th post..... :) Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Right, I forgot the pictures cam from 100steine.de ;) Quote
