Basiliscus Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Hi everyone, After a busy spell I managed to get back into building to enter the CCCVI. This is my first post-dark ages castle creation, so go easy on me! Here is the description: "The Desert Lion king looks to expand his kingdom by assaulting the border 'Dragon' castle of the Chin. The castle is a centre of trade for the region and the road to the gate doubles as a dry moat in times of siege. The Desert Lions dig a trench to get them closer to the walls without exposing themselves to the deadly Chin crossbows. They pepper the defenders with ballista bolts while their heavy infantry attempt to gain access to the battlements via the ladders. However, the Chin defenders are repelling any assaults and the king must reconsider his strategy." The pictures are links to the Brickshelf gallery (when moderated). PS - I gave the Lion Knights a makeover! Happy New Year to you all! Quote
Natman8000 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 OK, I love the way you made that table with the BD heads, and the racial diversity of the figures. every thing else is good also. Quote
Paul cantu Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I really like this. the tunnel and where the landscape drops look really cool and realistic. I also like the table you made where the king is making his evil plan...muhahaha! Your ballista is also really cool. Quote
Wout Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I like these trenches very much. It gives a great boost to this moc. The Big Balista is also very nice. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Great action outside the walls with the ballista and trenches. Not sure why there would be a covered cave/river inside the castle as it seems weird there. But then you did ask us to go easy on you so I will say I love the diversity in the figures and the curves in the landscape too! Well done Quote
Basiliscus Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks to everyone who has commented on this so far. There has already been a load of excellent entries in the siege categry and I am just happy to have taken part! I think the experience has made me a better builder and helped me work under a time-constraint. The racial diversity of the minifigs is due to the fact that I am currently creating the Anglo-Zulu war, so these parts were used for the Zulus. All this will be revealed in the next few weeks Great action outside the walls with the ballista and trenches. Not sure why there would be a covered cave/river inside the castle as it seems weird there. Thanks I Scream Clone for your comment! The covered cave/river was supposed to be the castle sewer system - but I realise it's one of the weaker areas of the MOC. To be honest, I had that large area I wanted to do something with - I could of built a dungeon but I feel this is a cliche on castle MOCs so tried to do something different. I really wish I had a LEGO rat to put there as that would have helped! I do agree that it seems a bit weird though but hope that helps explain it! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 What a nice MOC you've made! Especially the ballista looks so great. I like the digged out path too! And of course the table which is so special. Great job! Quote
