I normally would not blatantly try to hijack a thread, but seeing as this thread's topic could make for so much more than just: "Who likes space too?" I mind trying to give this a new spin:

Some will remember that there was a "Design the next Alpha Team line" discussion that spawned many nice concepts over time. In this place I would like you to list up a handful of suggestions in an order from "most needed" to "less important" for a future non-SW LEGO space line.

Please note: Be creative! Lightsabers, PCS, Klingons, Space Communists and mutated killer Bunnies are already all over the net!

1. Civilian purpose crafts! (Science is what drives us out there!)

2. Brick built aliens / Limited colour palette (white, bleys, different shades of blue, non-eyehurting trans-colours!)

3. Tying the line to where LOM left off design wise (Like the Universal Minifig logo, chrome visors...)

4. No friggin`storyline of no kind in no Kcufin' humanly conceivable way of thought!

5. Scuba tanks for spacegear! Rocks no end!

"Our people need Space!",

Cutty

to the admins: is the language filter deactivated or malfunctioning?

feeling so uncreative that I just worked from your list...

1) All tech starts with the military, I would like a space theme (e.g. Blacktron) not a whole lot of town folk in space. That said interstellar garbage barges would be realistic and neat MOCs.

2) I like the figs... there is something ominous about the original lego space themes and their robots just waiting to encounter... what... it's up to you.

3) No. Way futuristic all the way...

4)???

5) couldn't agree more :-D!

God Bless,

Nathan (I'll give this more unique thought when I finish my next castle MOC ;))

I would definitly love to see two types of themes:

1) a kind of retro space fun like the jetsons or Futurama (that was just to situate the designs I have in mind). Kind of 50's star ships, robots, space town ...

This has a lot of creativity, is not confined in any particular colours ...

2) a space exploration theme: a team of astraunauts lift off to discover lost civilizations in outer planets. The explo team and its/their ship(s) would not be very futuristic: I'm seeing a kind of redesigned Discovery shuttle, and the crew would look like normal astronauts.

It could be fun discovering lost cities and civilizations.

In order to have more action, it could include som villain encountered on certain planets.

Thats all I wish from TLC folks ;)

What I'd like to see is those guys in the white and blue ships against 3vil. Except I'd like it if the E was turned around, because I don't really think anybody would be afraid if you said, "Thhrrreee--vviill..."

Just sayin'...

I was thinking that too. Except I see LOTS of white, LOTS of support beams, LOTS of trans domes and LOTS of smooth surfaces.

There could be clear "shoop tubes" as I call them... the things you see people being transported through in the opening credits of Futurama.

There could be, inside these futuristic Lego towns, parks... giving some color to the sets as well as tree elements.

A theme of "futuristic town" has NO limits. If Lego wants to cross-breed it into another theme... BAM!

Make a museum.

Yah... also brilliant. :D

I would kind of like cool space minifigures in Exo-Force like machines and ships and they land on a planet and aliens have cool technology too and the aliens are really mean

I was thinking of one based off a video game type space theme. I doubt this idea will ever be possible but I have been planning it all out. Every set, their prices, packaging, marketing scheme( is that how you spell it?). You would have two set groups( good and evil. Just not generic black vs. white). Set groups would be like the knights Kingdom sets as one year is based on good with a few evil sets sprinkled about. The next year would be based on evil with a few good sets sprinkled.

The sets would be:

- packages of 3-4 mini fighter ships. Those would be in the $5 range. That might be a little too hopeful. It is like the old days of mini-fig packs.

-battleships and frieghters. $15-20 range. These might include opposite side fighter ship.

-specialty ships (cargo, civilian, research). Those would fit in $10-15 range. These would include very small supply parts and extra pieces.

cruisers. $30 range. Can come with a couple fighters.

-heavy cruisers. These would be very detailed coming with a few fighters from each side. $40 range.

-Base stations and construction hubs. These would include either a battleship or frieghter and a couple fighters. $50-60 range.

-Destroyer. Very large ship. Can open up. Has docks, turrets at main points, main station, comms port. Comes with many fighters, and 2 battleships. $70-90 range.

-Mothership. I was thinking maybe it could come as two parts but that would be illogical. Comes with detachable parts, central power core, huge docks, engine blocks, research and defense units. Comes with a cruiser, battleship and frieghter, and one enemy battleship. $100+ range.

-Super alien ship. This is like a special class set. It is sort of seperate than the others and is released later on. It comes with its own kind of fighters, and half-battleship/ half-cruiser ship. Or it comes with some sort of portal or gate. This would be around the $50-60 range but I'm guessing realistically with specialty like this it would be $90.

I was also thinking of having them do a bionicle type think where they use mini-figs after in a "mini-fig" version. That would be kind of wierd though. None of the sets would come with mini-figs ( unless just for special model characters that come as extra bonuses) as that would throw off the size. These sets cannot be mini-fig fitting because the mini-fig would almost be the size of the fighter. If one were to look for inspiration ( this is the idea I was going for. Just don't use a lisense deal as it is rated Teen) they should look at Homeworld 2 ( computer videogame). I thing lego looking ships like that would be very amazing( obviously not that detailed). You could build fleets of fighters and have then dock or combine sets for a megamothership.

What do you think?
