Hey everyone. This is my entry in the CCCVI Siege Category, which I started work on at the beginning of last week. It was certainly very rushed in finishing it, as I am going away tomorrow, but I am still very pleased with the result. I'll only post my three entry pictures, because hopefully they are enough to show all the details etc. Please feel free to give feedback and comments etc, I'm always looking to improve! Anyway, I thought you'd be interested in taking a look. So without further ado, here it is! :sweet:

The Siege of Angthor Castle

The Dragon Knights are known as ferocious warriors, and when Lord Chester of Angthor Castle hunted and killed an innocent dragon, the Knights were quick to seek revenge. Here we see the beginning of the siege of Angthor Castle. The Dragon Knights are attacking with their mighty Dragon Ram, while his Lordship desperately sends out soldiers to try and stop the beast from reaching his gates. He stands atop the battlements and surveys the attacking army, watching as the the Dragon Ram draws ever closer. Will the Dragon Knights conquer Angthor Castle? Most probably...

Here is the Brickshelf Gallery when public; it has more detailed pictures.

A fine scenery, a very detailed facade work with charming details like those stained glass windows,

an impressive bridge, a very nice ravine and a gorgeous Dragon Ram. Pretty cool!

Magnificent piece of castle creation! This is plain stunning and impressive set up. I love the facde of this castle with the amount of SNOT used in it. Great job, and good luck for this contest. You needs Ppenty of it. By the way, the siege engine looks pretty cool. I wonder if you will modify this Mystery Castle 2 though. :look:

Excellent MOC, Dragonator! The way you've built your walls makes them look really nice, and I absolutely love the ram :pir-wub: .

Also, the backstory is rather neat, and will very likely come up if EBRP returns (crossing fingers).

I do have one inquiry, though, wouldn't at least one of the dragons (a parent or relative of the deceased, perhaps) want to join in the fight, and maybe have a roasted Crownie for dinner?

Very nice work Dragonator, especially considering how quickly you built it. The fortress looks very well built and intimidating, and the ram is neat.

The scene itself though, is kind of boring. I think the main reason is the lack of figures. They should be crowding the ramparts, shooting and throwing projectiles at the enemy. If you are going to be putting them outside the castle walls, there should be a well sized strike force, not just a handful of soldiers. The same goes for the attackers, I think. You could also have a few strewn about on the ground, struck by the defenders' arrows.

I'm guessing that this is all you have of these two factions, but I think mixed factions would look better than it does right now.

Yes I just love it! That battering ram is up to the correct scale and looks so realistic, and the fort (done in your own detailed style) looks very good too.

That moat and bridge above it are astonishing  . (Yes, I AM a fan of your work).

Nice work Dragonator!

The battering ram is pretty awesome, with the giant dragon's head, it reminds me of the one they have in Lord Of the Rings (But I forget the name  )

The architecture on the castle is pretty good as well, with the slopes and odd angles near the gates, it's one catsle that looks like it can take a pounding...

My only (small) gripe is that the castle looks a bit squashed around the top, but that's probably becuse of the beautiful sloped battlements

Let me start by saying this is a beautifully built siege waepon and castle. Great use of angled walls and stain glassing.

I do have some minor concerns though.

1. As Sir Dillon mentioned, not enough figures. Perhaps take the Crownies and place them up on top to create a crowded aspect. Then also stack the Dragon Knights behind the battering ram, pushing it closer to the door.

2. The top of the Castle seems a bit too bulky. This to me shows the crownies can't get a good enough perspective on the battlefield, with which to rain down weapons or oil on their enemies.

3. If you move the Crownies back into the Castle consider filling the grass area with crops or a large brick tree etc.

I know time is running out, and you don't have to take my advise, but I would like to see you win :classic:

Cheers

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the great comments, I greatly appreciate them. Also a big thanks to Sir Dillon and I Scream Clone; I'll remember your advice for my future MOCs. Unfortunately it is to late for me to do anything with this entry, as I am currently on holiday up North. It shall just have to enter how it is. I've never really considered myself to be very good with placing minifigs, so I do find your comments very helpful, and will remember them for next time. :classic: Perhaps I'll get my act together next year and wont be so rushed!
