topi Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hi! I'm trying to use the Digital Designer to build a model of my own. Are there any "Digital Designer Pros" on this forum? What's the biggest thing you have designed with the tool, and are there any limitations concerning the size of your design? Digital Designer seems fun, but it's a bit slow for a beginner... (I'd also like to add some Bionicle parts on my design, but seems to me it's not possible.) Greetings, Topi the DD amateur Quote
xenologer Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I use it more often than most... But mainly for vehicles, not much a building person. Anyhow, depending on your computer speed, things can get very slow with large amounts of bricks, and it can become difficult to accuratly connect things since the screen will lag... Ran into this problem trying to build a space greenhouse dome. I wouldnt worry much about it... If you're building a large town, I'd suggest making each building as a separate model. This will help things for people buying them, since not everyone wants to shell out the cash for a whole town at once. also, there's an import function under the file menu, so once each building is made you can then have a separate town model that loads and combines each one... this might help avoid the slowdown issues for when you're doing the precision work in each building... topi Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Thanks, Xeno – the thing is that I'm trying to build a ship into a competition, and you are supposed to built a total set instead of a set of partial models. However, the DD Tool seems to work faster on my brother's Mac than my old PC... -Topi Quote
