Akitakara Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Hey everyone. I'm not sure if anyone can answer this, but has anyone seen any of the new POTC sets in Canadian TRU's? I'm just wondering, because none of the ones near me have them yet, but sometimes their orders are just slow. Just letting you know that all the Toys R Us in Ottawa have all the new POTC sets, except the small $15 one with the ships in a bottle. Quote

In that I don't believe it. Quote

Ogre Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) for those who don't know the canadian prices for the pick a brick cups and build a minis are: $10.99 small cup and $19.99 for the large cup $12.99 for the build a mini Well, THAT blows! Costs more per fig than CMFs! BTW...for those in the Toronto area, you might be interested in this post: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10116&view=findpost&p=978297 Also...for those looking for POTC sets: according to Mastermind Toys' newsletter, they are supposed to be available at Mastermind Toys TODAY! =) Edited April 30, 2011 by Ogre Quote
Fives Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) I've been told that the soft opening has been moved back to the 13th. Are you 100% sure? I would like to know. Edited April 30, 2011 by Fives Quote
Ricecracker Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Are you 100% sure? I would like to know. I trust that the information I was given is accurate, but I've heard this second-hand so I'm not 100% sure. Quote
Canada_7 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I've been told that the soft opening has been moved back to the 13th. That will be the same Friday that the grand opening was supposed to be if I remember correctly. Does that mean the grand opening will be pushed back? Quote
Ricecracker Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Soft opening is on the 10th, grand opening begins on the 13th. Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 So while I've essentially given up the ghost on the hope of getting the Mini-Figure set on Saturday [if you somehow get two... or work there... save me one?], at least I'm gonna try and make it on Friday and get the silly little R2-D2 Duplo brick. [i'm assuming you all got this postcard dealie?] Although I'm probably gonna show up too early or something. Bad luck all 'round! Quote

It's good all weekend, so I'll just bring it on Saturday, I guess. Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Dudes, am I gonna get charged brokerage fees on my order from S@H, sent via FedEx? I hadn't even considered this before ordering. I hate brokerage fees with a burning passion. Quote

I hate brokerage fees with a burning passion. I didn't. The boxes were shipped from a Canadian distribution site, so no brokerage applied. @sok117 - My understanding was that they were mailed to people who had ordered from the Lego site in the past, possibly targetted by region. lowbike1 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 my walmart had a few pirates of the Caribbean sets in, picked up the captains cabin, the box has been shrunk quite a bit, but its a good set Quote

I'm glad to hear that they have started to show up in some stores. If Val-Mart has them, TRU must. Quote
Ricecracker Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 TRU at Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto has all the POTC sets except the Captain's Cabin. I've been getting a number of different dates for the soft opening of the store; I think the best thing would be to wait until the Grand Opening. Quote

tedbeard Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Now that a hi-resolution picture of the next series of Collectible Minifigs is out is anyone else stoked about a "Canadian" being included? Sure it's a bit too stereotypical, Bob-and-Doug but who can resist the new trucker hat with a beaver on it? And the new axe is pretty sweet as well. Quote

It's another issue of needing multiples: ========== SERIES 1 ========== - Zombie army - Cheerleading squad - Luchadora tag teams ========== SERIES 2 ========== - 300 Spartans ========== SERIES 3 ========== - Tennis and Sumo matches - Baseball teams - Mummy, Samurai and Elf armies ========== SERIES 4 ========== - Soccer and Hockey Teams - Hazmat crew - 3 Musketeers =========== SERIES 5 =========== - Bob AND Doug As to iconic Canuck identities, I like to think of the Eskimo as the Canadian Inuit variety rather than being and American Alaskan Yupik so with Bob and/or Doug, that gets us TWO Canadians this round...and arguably the hockey player in Series 4. HAH. A mountie would be awesome...with a new accessory being a new hat and a hobby horse! Quote

Sign me up for all four of those, but I think I'll wait for a sale on the harbour. $120? Ouch! The rest of the prices are reasonable enough IMO. I haven't decided when I'll hit up the Lego store, though I'm leaning towards the Saturday for some of those early bird perks. I look forward to picking up some exclusives that I haven't brought myself to order yet. Quote
