Brickadier General Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 As some of you may or may not be aware, Daniel Siskind, creator of the Blacksmith Shop set and proprietor of Brickmania custom kits has been working on a book for No Starch Press on the topic of Modern military (over the past century) Lego modeling. I'm expecting to see this WWII Iwo Jima Diorama in there. And this scene with WWII Japanese soldiers. See his Flickr gallery for more. I'm surprised nobody posted about this yet. Quote
Holy Diver Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Bonzai! Really good work there. I like how all of the American troops have their own pose. The only problem is that there are so few asian faces in the Japanese army. Shame on Lego for ignoring the asians. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Wow, that is a seriously impressive diorama. The brick background is a neat touch you don't see often. Thanks for posting it, General. This actually belongs in other themes, though. I'll move it there. Quote
banthabricks Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Wow! This looks great! Those tanks and soldiers look amazing! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Wow! These are excellent. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to check out his other WWII creations. Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Thanks for sharing! This is so amazing. It feels like I am looking back into history. I am sure it will be interesting to learn history via LEGO. Anyway, I enjoyed viewing such historical mocs. Quote
Brickmaster Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Very classic. I thoroughly enjoy looking at works like this, thank you for sharing. Quote
djo Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 wow, amazing work. really like all the tanks and army. nice diorama. this is a masterpiece. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Just beautiful work from Dan I love the look of the muddy shore as the troops fight tooth and nail for the advantage. No mean feat to get that many troops either Outstanding. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Amazingly done, kudos to its creator. Thanks for sharing! Quote
Brickadier General Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Happy to share them with you and glad to hear you like his work. Wow, that is a seriously impressive diorama. The brick background is a neat touch you don't see often. Thanks for posting it, General. This actually belongs in other themes, though. I'll move it there. Sorry about that Sir Dillon. I assumed since WWII is historical it would belong in History and Adventure. Is History and Adventure reserved for MOCs that are related to themes that Lego has already developed? Quote
eti Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 It's not the kind of subject I really like to look at, but it's really awesome work. Look at that black smoke plume, it's impressive. Quote
