Four days isn't that bad. People have lives outside of Bricklink. I'd give it until Monday before emailing him again, and if you still do not get a reply by Wednesday or Thursday, then file a non-shipping seller alert.

Thanks. This is in the correct fourm right? He invoiced it rather quick. I ordered a Jar Jar for one of my friend's birthday and his birhday is Tuesday. I should have ordered it quicker. One of his relatives gave me money to find him a Star Destoyer. I ordered it the same day and I've already got it. I'm just a little worried because of his previous feedback. I really don't want to cancel the order becuase I have a Y-Wing in the order too. But I will if needed.

There have been times when I just got busy and forgot to transfer money into my account for internet use, therefore, I didn't pay within the specified window. Of course, I emailed the seller to let them know I needed a few extra days. Always got a response of no problem, along with a thank you for letting me know.

There have also been times where I have waited for days for an invoice. Just a quick little POLITE reminder to the seller is sometimes all it takes. Most often, they are busy also and just didn't get to sending it.

Remember, if you act like a putz and cancel, cancel, cancel, it will eventually catch up to you and be known by your feedback. Then, good luck buying from Bricklink.

Just my two cents.

Plus remember that most BL stores are hobby stores.

The sellers do have real lives outside of BL.

I try to have a life outside EB and BL at least

Thanks for the infomation. I just thought it was wierd because he invoiced it rather quick. I was thinking he could have sent it but not changed it on BL's data. I really didn't know what to do if I never got anything because I've never had any problems.

You should always read the splash page for a store. My store says that orders may take some time and I am only able to work on the three days a week. Real life has a sneaky way of getting order delayed.

Really, you have about thirty days from the purchase date until they mark an order shipped if you paid by paypal. I have only sent a few order that late and the buyer knew in advance that it was going to take a long time. Communication on both ends is the key though. Most people are very helpful and understanding.

My birthday is coming up and I wanted to order off of bricklink. I showed my dad the site to get his approval. But them he gave me this speech on how much shipping costs :cry_sad: . He said it would cost us a hundred dollars just to ship a 1.57$ over here. So I was wondering, how much on average does shipping on BL cost?

Topic is merged, since this is related to BrickLink questions.

For a start, if your dad is telling you it will cost a hundred dollars for shipping, which means he is discouraging you to buy online and I believe he has his own reasons for doing so, and either you convince him or just listen to him, and do your own shopping when you are much older.

Next, I don't believe there is an average shipping cost in BrickLink, but correct me if I am wrong. Shipping differs from country to country and region to region. Shipping goes accordingly by weight and not value of the consignment. Shipping will be much expensive if it ranges from express mail service such as UPS and DHL, or registered services or even the slowest mode of transport which is via sea that is one of the slowest and cheapest mode.

The best option is to email or drop a message to the seller and request for a shipping quotation and what modes are available for the consignment.

Yup, I try to always email the seller prior to ordering for a shipping quote, so you aren't surprised. It always helps to read through their feedback, as well as their Splash and Store Policies pages.

Shipping generally costs the same from either the Continental U.S. and Canada, so those should be your best bet as a first order. Also, remember that shipping can take a while, so be patient.

If you need any store recommendations, I suggest you check out the Bricklink Trusted Sellers list, though it could use a bit of updating...

Where do you live? If you buy within the same country, shipping will typically be something like $2-5 for parts, and maybe $10-15 for large sets.

The only way anything will cost $100 to ship is if it's international and the item has a massive box. The highest shipping price I ever paid there was $60, and that was for a 5571 coming from France.

So I bought a nice big box of assorted Lego, a number of sets that are incomplete. However, the one set that caught my eye while sorting (7773 Tiger Shark Attack) is almost all there. I've never really been that into Lego other than Bionicle but that set seems really great. The pieces missing are all rather critical and pretty specific to this set. A past search on these boards led me to Bricklink so it seems relatively easy to complete the shark and sub.

Is there way to go about searching and comparing and buying without having to pay a mountain for various shippings? Each individual piece doesn't seem expensive but just cursory searching (just 2-3 pieces out of a needed 25+) shows that the parts will be spread across a number of sites. After figuring the time I'll have to spend going between various sites that have various parts and the money I'll have to spend on multiple shipments, it's a pretty decent investment. Is there an easier way to cross reference parts needed across these different source rather than typing in one piece at a time?

On Bricklink there is a great feature called the wanted list. You can add parts, sets, minifigs or anything else that is in the Bricklink catalogue to it. You can access it by the header titled "wanted". Once you have your wanted list assembled, you can go to any store, and at the top of their inventory, click "show all items this store has on my wanted list". All the parts will show up and you can see how many they have. I hope this helps.

Also if you use the tab "By Shop" it shows which stores have the most of the items on your list.

This is also accessed by using the "query stores" in the wanted list

Funnily enough, I was going to ask about this because it took me ages to order the parts for the rock band bus and I was thinking that there must be an easier way to do it so it's been helpful for me too. I will definitely be doing it that way for my next project.

I am working on purchasing a few expensive lego sets, and there is one seller in particular on Bricklink that has them in stock. Would it be rude or wrong of me to email him and ask him if I could get some sort of discount on them (or even if I order just one of them?). These sets are very rare and also very expensive, I have noticed that the ones in stock have been there for several months (most likely due to the high price and rarity of the sets).

Thanks in advance, this question is burning on my mind!

No harm in asking. At the worst, he'll say no or ignore you, and you will still have the option of just paying the normal price.

Is there anyone here who lives in Finland and has ordered stuff from Bricklink? I'd like to know what kind of taxes and customs fees there would be on a, say, 100€ (85€+15€ postage) order from inside EU or from the US.

I need to find the following pieces...

Hood (brown)

And any other stuff to make a JEDI!!

Can anyone help me where to find thsi

Look under the different minifigure parts on the catalog. The hood would be under minifig headgear.

I have sent orders to Finland from New Zealand, but dont know what customs duties they were charged. You could look in the Bricklink members list for Finland and ask one thru the contact feature, most wouldnt mind helping you.

I'm new to the world of Bricklink but over the past few days have won an item on the auctions & also put in an order for over 1200 bricks.

Both sellers have been online today & yesterday but neither have sent an invoice yet.

I emailed the person selling the auction lot & added a comment to the job lot but haven't had a response from either.

How long does it usually take to receive an invoice?

I'm desperate for my bits so I can build my MOC Fire station!! :cry_sad:

Although most would answer within 24 hours, not everyone logs in to the internet daily.

I mostly consider 3 days as normal. I send a second e-mail after five days are passed.

I do know the impatient feeling once one ordered  .

Posted

Some sellers only send the invoice after the order has been packed. Most of the sellers there run their stores part-time, and if your order is big, sellers may well take up to a week to collect all the parts.

Posted

Don't worry, they will send the invoice in 3 days usually, if not, remind them politely, as Zorro suggested.

I know the feeling when you wait for the order very well!

BrickLink TOS requires sellers to respond after a period off 3 days anyway, by email or invoice.

It all depends on several factors! Is the store a bussiness or hobbyist? Is the order big? What does the sellers splash page informs about respond time? Does the seller picks and packs the order first to weigh it in advance to get the most accurate shipping before invoicing? Does the seller invoices and requires payment first before he/she will start processing the order? What are the timezones you and the seller are in? How frequently is the seller online? etc

You'll get respond, no doubt about that. 99% off transactions with feedback on BrickLink is positive aswell ;)

Kevin.
