2006 isn't nay more <insert that tiresome argument> than any other year, and LEGO are not going to get rid of bricks. Looking at the 2006 sets, the only juniorisation I can see is:

- The football stadium, the outside is one big piece

- the planes, which aren't quite as <insert that tiresome argument> as everyone thinks, and would be tricky to make any other way without increasing the price A LOT

Other than that, everything else is fine. There's always a few <insert that tiresome argument> sets each year, like the dump truck this year. I don't think LEGO is moving away from bricks.

I don't think that there will be something out in the next 20 years at least which can replace the Lego bricks. I agree in the fact that maybe the plastic resources will be gone, so they would handle with other materials or sintetic stuff, but come on, it just can't be truth that in 7 years they are gonna be gone. I also think that there will be "smart" bricks or something more technological, but never be replaced for software, it's just like saying that we won't need any wood or stone to make buildings, because they will be made of softwares!!! come on, it's not the matrix we live in (or yes?? :'( )

In the words of a badly translated Darth Vader:

That is absolutely hilarious.

I really hope you guys are right... I had a quick glance of 2015 and I wondered what Lego would be like if that was true... and it definately was NOT pretty...

Lego is one business that regressing would do them good. I guarantee it. Because if the kids don't buy it(but in most cases, they will), than all the AFOL's will.

OR, better yet, just bring back quality and apply it to new lines. I used to believe kids today were way different, but I've been hearing stories on here about kids who are 10 and under who love the old lego. I think the kids would do it if they were introduced to it.

I got my first lego bin when I was 3. My family also got a NES that Christmas too. I played video games but I couldn't stand the lack of control in the game - I couldn't change anything, and the ideas I thought were stupid in the game couldn't be changed.

With Lego, I could change everything to a) my own sets and b) the actual sets. Or I could just make up my own.

The lego bin I got was of the BASIC theme, and I loved it more than the video game. I remember playing with the lego more than the video game that christmas and if I look at my past I remember playing with lego much more than video games anyway.

If Lego abandons the brick than I don't know whats going to happen. Its one of the last few toys that still have some thought requirement. I don't think kids have a lack of imagination these days, I just think its not developed as much as it should be.

Sorry I kind of went off topic.

I hope you guys are right(who say this is bogus).

Guys,

I work for LEGO, and have heard absolutely nothing about this. In fact, the slogan within the company has been and continues to be, "It's all about the brick." And we just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the system of play this year.

From what I know, the company is focusing on 2005 and trying to make this a good year so that we can be strong and vital in 2006. No one is talking about what we are doing in 2012. And chucking the brick would be like Coke saying, "We aren't going to make that cola stuff anymore."

My advice is to ignore this quote -- I believe I know the person who said it, and he may wish we gave up on the brick, but there are no plans anyone in our company knows of to do so. (He is, I think, the same person who said a few years ago that LEGO would be dead by now -- and quite the contrary, LEGO Star Wars is blowing out the door, so is Dino Attack, and BIONICLE remains strong.) So I wouldn't take anything he says seriously.

Of course. Why would Lego stop making bricks?Besides, there are new Bionicle playsets in 2006,so how is that possible if the brick quits?

Whoever said that is just lying or hates Lego.
