KyoKyo Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 In terms of scale and design, the new clone wars sets are really very very sharp looking. The old AT-Te looks like a fat caterpillar... The color schemes and buildability of the new CW sets are top-of-the-line for Legos i think. Don't get me wrong, the OT sets, especially the B-Wing ( ) are very nice too. But you can tell that Lego has come a long way in terms of design and movie authenticity with the new CW sets when compared to older sets, such as the Ep II sets from 2002. Quote
legopiotre Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 The most recent LEGO are the best for a few points : They use new pieces, making ships more accurate, Lego is now able to ma more new molds so we get more minifigs, there are new colour used (the dark red and the dark blue are awesome)... And the new is often what we prefer because it is new. Of course, many can say that some old sets were better than the ones, I think some new design are worst than the before ones but we often have many improvements. So the Lego I prefer are the most recent generally speaking so the clone wars series is for the moment the best one in my opinion, but if we have a new series of pretrilogy sets, well-designed like the clone wars were, PT will be the best. Moreover, The Clone Wars presents a lot of new ships, making many possibilities for TLG to make new sets so we won't have the same problem we had with OT that there are only a few different ships existing. Rijkvv Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 The Droid Gunship This one was also in Episode III, wasn't it? I voted too fast, I thought it was about the movies (without reading the posts ) and voted the PT. But about the sets, it has to be the OT. These models are absolutely great, with 4483 my favourite and 6209 a close second (however I don't own them). Quote
Dark Brickz Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Droid Gunship only comes out in the clone wars cartoon... Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I like episodes 1 till 6 best, episodes 1, 2 and 3 best if i have to choose. The new effects and used humor makes them great IMO. All the clonewars stuff and what not doesn't get my ineterest. Quote
Adam Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Original Trilogy. Though how did you, a vassal, set up a poll? Quote
KimT Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Original Trilogy.Though how did you, a vassal, set up a poll? Simple. I added it I am clearly an Original Trilogy fan.I can live with the Clone Wars animated style and even the EP I-II-III are acceptable, except for JarJar Binks But for the heck of it, I can't see why Expanded Universe ever was invented. In my opinion the sets are non-Star Wars oriented. C'mon people a Tie Crawler and some black spaceship called Rogue Shadow doesn't have diddely-squid to do with the great Star Wars universe. It's a crappy spin-off that mocks the Original Story. I'll add a poll for this. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I love OT, it was such an iconic time in my childhood, so many happy memories, figures, collector cards etc. I love the clone wars clones as well, but you just cant beat the small band of rebels vs the whole imperial empire underdog story! As was mentioned by Oky OT FTW! Cant wait to get a Mill Falcon next year if it is minifig scale! Quote
KinGanon Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Im a PT fanatic(those clones get me every time) Though not sure if I like it beter than CW since that is LOADED with clone *ponders Quote
Dark Brickz Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 yeah you gotta love those clones... Quote
darkrebellion Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I vote for sure the OT !!!! All the sets about the OT are fantastic and they came with fantastic minifigs too. The PT sets and the CW sets are also fantastic but I need to say that I am not a big fan of the Republic Gunship (Not really ) also I hope for an Endor set and a Mon Cal set next year . Quote
Dark Brickz Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 i think we'll get Home One next summer and if we do its gonna be a good year for OT fans...... Quote
Oky Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 As was mentioned by Oky OT FTW! What is that supposed to mean? I am a PT/CW fan, not OT! Also, this is about Lego SW subthemes (the sets to be exact), and not stories. Quote
Omega 8 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 My heart is with the OT but I'm an obsessed fan of the JSFIIs from the PT. I freakin' LOVE those things!!! CW is just an extension/expansion of the PT and several of these sets are fan faves Republic Gunship anyone? So i'm good here too. I am one of the few that happen to like the Rogue Shadow so I'm even cool with some EU stuff All in all, I just flat like what I like. That seems to be damn near all of it. Quote
pr0visorak Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 What is that supposed to mean? I am a PT/CW fan, not OT!Also, this is about Lego SW subthemes (the sets to be exact), and not stories. Same here! Phase 1 clones rule Quote
Razzer Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Same here! Phase 1 clones rule Ditto, but the CW phase 1 clones are waaaay better than the original ep 2 ones! Quote
Dark Brickz Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 the phase 2 clone troopers from ep 3 are the best. they have better armor and gear than phase 1 clone troopers... Quote
Oky Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Do you guys like the CW sets better than the others just because of the clone minifigs? Quote
Dark Brickz Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Do you guys like the CW sets better than the others just because of the clone minifigs? the sets are good so are the minifigs. its just that, well i like the old school minifigs classic lego style. Quote
Oky Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) The sets are good, and so are the minifigs. It's just that, well, I like the old school minifigs' classic lego style. I was actually not talking to you. I was talking to Razzer and pr0visorak. Besides, what you said there didn't even have anything to do with what I said. I know what you mean, though. Razzer Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Do you guys like the CW sets better than the others just because of the clone minifigs? Oh no, in fact I think that the CW sets have some of te best designed ships TLC has ever made , esp. the new RGS and AT-TE, although they needed a little modding to be good troop transports. Also, these are some of the first droid vehicles I have liked, like the new AAT coming out next year. The reason I voted PT though is because of the more story relevant sets with good looking main characters and everything. Quote
SWMAN Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 OT all the way. Any one of them is as good as all three PT movies combined. The Expanded Universe hasn't had any movies or shows, so I am not a big fan. The Animated CW is fun, but nothing compared to the movies. Quote
Dark Brickz Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 All the star wars are good but its time to move on to something new and interesting. It's time to expand...... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 That's a great idea for a poll, Dark Brickz! I voted for Original Trilogy (EP4+5+6) since I'm a real OT fan. I really like episode 1,2 and especially episode 3, too. But - at least with Lego I'm only OT fan and do only buy Lego OT sets. As for the CW I must say that I the movie. And FU and EU look to me really , too. Thank you for the poll. Klaus-Dieter Quote
