Buttons Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I was wondering if any of EB's "best MOCers" [everyone shifts a little] would be interested in creating some of their best MOCs on Lego factory so members who always say "Can I have instructions" do not have to bother you and could even buy the set, baring in mind the cost, themselves. Anyone interested ? Quote
Pickerel Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 This would however, limit their creativity because LDD is hard to use, in some cases impossible to use techniques, lacks a wide variety of bricks, and is time consuming, thus making their MOCs less beautiful. Can't you just look at the pictures to see techniques, instead of copying entire MOCs? Also, some people may not want there MOCs to be copied. Once I get my LEGO collection organized, expand my collection a little, and make some MOCs I wouldn't want people copying things I made because I think LEGO should encourage creativity, not be copied off someone else's design. Just my opinion, however. Good luck! Quote

If lego is ment to be creative and and not to be copied then why do lego make models with instructions? Quote
Faramir Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 why do lego make models with instructions? To make money... off us... I would have to agree with Pickerel-- I definitely wouldn't consider myself one of the best MOCers here, but anything I make on LDD is so bad I don't think I want people to see it... But as he also said, LDD limits you, especially on some of those advanced strategies that make those high level MOCS so good to look at. Quote
Guss Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Turning some amazing moc that we see here in ldd model is .. Impossible, but you can always makes nice things in LDD ! I saw some nice creation ! like mine! .... No I'm joking, my ldd model are baaad ^^ (see these on my website if you're curious enough ^^ ) there is so many part unavailable on LDD... that the majority of mocs are impossible to make on it, maybe the "best mocceurs" can make it on Mlcad, but that's a lot of work, so let's just admire their great mocs and try to makes our own mocs with our own design^^ Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 The idea is nice, but this is already done individually. Most MOCs are shown in more places then EB as well. Factory is too limited for me, it only has a few parts and it takes patience to learn it. So i won't join you, but the idea isn't bad. Quote
Pickerel Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I don't want to copy anyone's MOC but I do disagree on one point. If lego is ment to be creative and and not to be copied then why do lego make models with instructions? Well, LEGO sets are a lot different than someone's MOC. Someone's creation is different from an official set because official sets are meant to be played with, whereas most of the the MOCs made by wonderful builders are more display pieces, some techniques are fragile or not very interactive. I'm not saying your idea's stupid, I just don't think it's possible, or, if it is, or worth while for the builder. Quote
Pickerel Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I blame Factory... What do you mean? Quote
CP5670 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 In the past, I made MLCad instructions for my major MOCs and put them on Brickshelf (LDD is very restrictive and not really intended for doing this). It's always a credit to the builder when people are interested in how they can make their own copy of the model, and it's good to be able to help out with that. Although it's very time consuming to make the instructions and I probably will not be doing it much in the future, as I hardly have enough time to do the building itself these days. Quote
Buttons Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 What do you mean? If factory was better... well never mind I supose going into that conversation just begs the question Why don't you just build in real life? Quote
Pencoin Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 If LEGO does ask some AFOLS on eurobricks I'm sure like in the last three cases, the builders were avaible to pick more parts for LDD and were also able to tell coders if they couldn't use a certain way of building. Quote
