Bricklanta Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I missed out on the wild west sets that came out in the 90's because I still hadn't started collecting legos. Is there a chance lego might release them again in the near future(2009,2010) like they're doing with pirates? Quote
Flatfoot Thompsen Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I hope so, why don't you look on eBay? Quote
SWMAN Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Ebay might be pretty expensive depending on whether you want the sets mint or not. If they did a whole new Wild West theme, like with the Pirates, they would all be different than the originals. Quote
Zorro Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I missed out on the wild west sets that came out in the 90's because I still hadn't started collecting legos. Is there a chance lego might release them again in the near future(2009,2010) like they're doing with pirates? I didn't hear anything about a rerelease of the Wild West/cowboy sets yet, and I doubt there will be one for 2009 or even 2010, but I am nearly 100% certain it will be released again in the future, its just too much a classic for that. And I think the Wild West sets are reasonably priced on eBay. For now, at least... Quote
randomparrot Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Bricklink isn't too badly priced you could try there. Quote
Pencoin Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 It is highly possible there will be a new Wild West Factory set. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Welcome to EB, BRICKLANTA! Great to see another Western fan! Yes, the best thing would be to buy some old Western sets from Ebay - and even already save some money for new sets (if hopefully there will be some). Since I'm a really big Lego Western fan I bought nearly all my Western sets (used, because new they are much to expensive - and after some time they lokk used nevertheless) from Ebay. You can see my diorama of them (without Indians) here. I think - and of course hope, too - that there will be a new Western theme in the nearer future!!! But like zorro3999 already mentioned it can't be expected before 2011 since next year's the year of Pirates. And there is always then one year after that for throwing in more sets of this theme. Firstly after this time there'll then be place for a new adventure-based theme - like e. g. Western. I, too, think that the Western theme is surely as much popular at kids as the Western theme. So it would imo be strange to release some new Pirates sets (and them even in the classic style with not too many action and horror elements - big compliment ) but no Western sets. But of course you can never know. Like Pencoin mentioned there's a high possibility that we'll get some Factory Western sets in 2009 or 2010. And - if so - the number of sets sold then will surely bring TLG to the decision whether they'll release a new Western theme or not. Personally I'd much more like some regular non-Factory Western sets since Factory sets are always nearly only fan-built and nearly not changed by Lego designers. And the result of some of them is - like the 10200 Custom Cars set - in my opinion . So let's hope for some new great Western sets! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) If they did a whole new Wild West theme, like with the Pirates, they would all be different than the originals. I don't think that a new Western theme would be totally different to the original one, SWMAN. There are only two possibility for new Western sets: 1. The "original" ones with which I mean a Western Town: sheriff's office, bank, general store, saloon, post office, train station, other urban buildings, stage coach, Western train, ... fort, gold mine, farm, gold wash, ... This theme would contain all the original characters like cowboys, sheriff, soldiers, banker, ... and consequently would be very similar to the original theme. 2. A Ghost Town theme: ghost town buildings, ghost train, haunted stage coach, ... (like the excellent MOCs BrickMiner and TheBrickster designed) lonely house, haunted gold mine, ... This theme would contain - despite from the original characters - ghost cowboys, ghosts, skelettons, ... and would be like a mixture of the original Western theme with the new "Castle" theme - so a new sort of fantasy theme. But - except for whether we'll get an "orignal" Western theme or some sort of Ghost Town theme - I think TLG will design the buidlings, vehicles and minifigs very similar to the original Western theme. The new Pirates sets show that TLG is beware of that it is very good to go "back to the roots" and release sets in the more classic style. I think - and of course hope, too - that if TLG releases a new Western theme they'll do it in that way, too. Expcept for which theme a new Western theme will be - "original" Western Town or Ghost Town - it would be very welcome! And I'd even like to see some new Indian sets, too. I think it would be the best to have not that big Indian villages but to have two tribes which can fight against - so there would even not be the problem with soldiers against Indians. The best would be if TLG releases a new Western theme which would include: Year 1: Exclusive Sets: Western train with train station General sets: sheriff's office, bank, general store (I don't need them since I already own theme - but these sets would surely be very important to get JFOLs introduced in this theme), saloon , settlers with covered waggon Year 2: Exclusive Sets: farm with wind turbine and post office with stage coach General sets: haunted gold mine, ghost town , little fort/outpost (not ghost town), ghost cowboys Year 3: Exclusive Sets: paddle wheel steamer with little peer General sets: Indian village A, Indian village B, medicin man's tipi A , Indian fount A/B, Indians A and B Of course I'd have lots and lots more wishes - but these would be the most important for me and surely even the most demanded by AFOLs as well as JFOLs. So let's hope! Klaus-Dieter Edited November 12, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
ProducePrincess Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I also missed out on the westren theme and i would like a remake so i can get some of the peices. But the problem i see is lego would make it shhot the indians and take their land or hang the bandits instead of the happier cowboys in the 90's back then all they had was shoot the bandits and steal the indians land, ah nevermind i guess there really would'nt be much diference after all. possible westeran sets- bandits hideout-54.99 minifigs- 6 figures-4 bandits and 2 cowboys structure -a cave hideout type structure with a trap and falling rocks vehicles- 3 horses and a wagon cowboy salloon-39.99 minifigs -3 cowboys and 1 bandit structure- a modular type building with a top and bottom floor-would be on a 16 by 16 base plate and have tables and a counter along with a piano. vehicles-horses and possibly a wagon Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 They are bringing back sets like rock raiders from around the same time, and the windmill mould has come back out... Quote
Duke of Derby-shire Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Hopefully. There might be actually a good possibility. Just keep your eyes open for news! Quote
SWMAN Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I think that Lego would do what they did with Pirate to Wild West and totally renovate the theme. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 They are bringing back sets like rock raiders from around the same time, and the windmill mould has come back out... That's a good point and argument, Captain Zuloo! But I must say that I didn't notice that the windmill mold is back. Where did you find/see it? Hopefully. There might be actually a good possibility. Just keep your eyes open for news! Welcome to EB, Duke of Derby-shire! And nice to see again someone new interested in the Western theme! Klaus-Dieter Quote
