Cardinal Brick Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Truly excellent work I can’t wait to order some, it’s high time my French army had some proper cavalry. You have my thanks for brining us such a great item. If it’s not asking too much would it be possible to have a very of the helmet without the plume on the side? Quote

Cardinal Brick Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Great work, now Napoleon could even have some Horse Grenadiers! Quote
The Who Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Those are some interesting designs. Since I can't make anything, is there a way to make a guitar on there that would fit in a fig's hand(s)? Preferably a double-neck, exactly like Jimmy Page's, if somebody can make one. Thanks Quote
woody64 Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Great work, now Napoleon could even have some Horse Grenadiers! The article and picture here gives a very good overview what different kinds of headwears the french troops had (take a look at the summary picture) http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/napoleon...iformsheadwears According to thiis french troop candidates may be: - elite dragoons - chasseurs of the old guard - foot gunners - guard grenadiers - carabiners - grenadiers Andreas Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 You have certainly achieved some good results here Woody! All the army builders on the forum should be gratefull, heck i might get some myself some day! Keep it up! Quote
Zorro Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) I WILL buy some for my army after Christmas, when I counted my money . One problem though: I registered at Shapeways, but i can't see how to order, is this because it is a BETA version? BTW soon I will put an online library online with hundreds/thousand of pictures of all the different Napoleonic unit uniforms , units, weapons,.... The pictures will mainly be derived from 30 year old Fred und Liliane Funcken's uniform books as well as from certain free online sources, since I checked and they have no more rights in Belgium or the USA. I just need to make sure first I can get my hands on enough pictures and drawings without legal problems... I plan to have an alpha website online by March, possibly as some kind of subdirectory of Classic Pirates if they agree and if it can be incorporated. If you would be interested to be involved (by uploading non-licenced pics, writing, maintaining,...) please send me a PM. Maybe if it is a success you could even add a link to your future hat store. This offer is open to anyone else who has a strong knowledge about Napoleonic wars! Edited November 27, 2008 by zorro3999 Quote
NewRight Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Love the newest addition to the molds. I will try to buy some soon and they are amazingly historically accurate to from the pictures you provided. Quote
woody64 Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) One problem though: I registered at Shapeways, but i can't see how to order, is this because it is a BETA version? I didn't open all for buying. Currently the following are opened since I already had a version for review: - French Shako - Austrian Helmet - Hussar If you follow this link you should see some buyable items on the 2nd page: Shapeways woody64 Items I expect a delivery very soon where I maybe can open some further items. @zorro: I've already seen some Funcken pictures on the other sides in parallel to the french headgears (see above). Maybe that's also the reason because there are no rights on these Funcken drawings any longer (I still have Nr.1-4 good visible in my bookshelf) And here's some painted picture. I will experiment with some gloss too, but that later on. Andreas Edited November 27, 2008 by woody64 Quote
Wouwie Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Nice work Woody! I really like them! You should make all of them available for buying! My personal favourite is the fez, then you can make an Tommy Cooper MOC Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Great link woody thanks for providing that, I look forward to you openinig up all your creations. Quote

Thanks You mean something like this ... I think a principle design including upload to shapeways can be made in 2-3 hours. Andreas Edited November 29, 2008 by woody64 Quote
The Who Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 You mean something like this ... Yes, that is exactly what I meant. Could you make that and open it for people to buy? Thanks. Quote
Brickadier General Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Gute Arbeit, Woody64! I'm happy I came across this topic because I had no idea that there were other Lego fans trying to make minifig accessories for pre-20th century wars like the Napoleonic wars. I really like what you have made and will eventually order some one day. However, my main focus right now is on pre-20th century American warfare. If you would like to add more realism to some of your minifigs with coats, I suggest checking out MMCB's custom cloth accessories. You can work with him to get the look of the uniform/coat you are trying to get. That is what I did with my Irish Brigade. Lastly, I have a question? Do you ever plan on making a battle scene/diorama using your soldiers? I'd really love to see something like that eventually. Keep up the great work. Brickadier General Quote
woody64 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) The new delivery has arrived: additionally ... - ulan (ok) - austrian grenadier (ok) - fez (ok) - french dragoon without hair (ok) - french dragoon with hair part (principle ok but the hair part should be bigger) Later on more ... Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 8, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 8, 2008 Most impressive. My favourite helmet is the French dragoon Quote
woody64 Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) Most impressive. My favourite helmet is the French dragoon Thanks, as christmas present for your units this picture maybe of interest: Light Infantry on the left using the kolpacks as some units did Line Infantry with the new french shako in the middle Unmounted Dragoons on the right (Custom decals out of the decal index) Beware the decals are some old ones, the best choice form my point of view would be: Dragoon, Line Infantry The problem i still face is getting the glossy impression of the original items (see the bicorne). The painting itself only results in a mat effect. Did some experiments so far but not with the desired results. (glossy acryl varnish, other acryl paintings ...)
